Sai Tun Tin, Chairman of Lashio-based civil society “Metta Yezin” (Pure Water of Loving Kindness), harshly attacked by Maj-Gen Aung Than Tut, Commander of the 4 regional commands in Shan State, after he assisted 4 injured people (2 adults and 2 children) coming from Mongyai’s Wanzang village on 11 August. The injuries were the result of the Burma Army’s bombardment of the village. Aung Than Tut reportedly accused Tun Tin that his social organization was only a front: “You are in fact involved in racial and political activities. You have been warned now. You’ll have me to answer to (the next time).” The 4 had arrived there through the good offices of a local Shan member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).(SHAN)
