Sai Lake, spokesman for the deregistered Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD), speaking on the occasion of the release of prisoners all over Burma, says few political prisoners are among them. “The president’s action does not match his words. Unconditional release of all political prisoners is the clearest demonstration of the political will to democratization.” Shan leaders who are serving 79-106 year sentences receive only 1 year commutation each. (SHAN)
