Army honours NLD’s landslide win
Information team of the office of the commander-in-chief (army) has today issued an announcement on chairperson of National League for Democracy Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s call for holding talks with the commander-in-chief.
The four-point announcement says: (1) We have received a letter signed by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, which sent to Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing; (2) We greatly honour all voters including the families of the army who cast their ballots in the November 8 elections in a discipline manner; (3) Likewise, we honour the NLD for having secured the majority of votes in the elections according to the final poll results; and (4) Both sides will coordinate to hold talks at a suitable time after the Union Election Commission has finished its works.
On November 11, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi sent letters to the President, the military chief and the Union Parliament Speaker separately, calling for holding dialogues. All have replied that they will meet with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at appropriate times.
