Kor Por Tor/Network of Students and People for the Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) supporter and guard Khung Wasanta Khamwong (คุณวสันต์ คำวง) was fatally shot in the head when gunfire hit the group’s procession was returning from Chaeng Wattana Government Complex to parliament building this afternoon via the expressway. At least 4 members of Kor Por Tor were injured and are currently hospitalized.
BREAKING NEWS: 4 members of Kor Por Tor/Network of Students and People for the Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) were hit by gunfire while returning from this morning’s rally at Chaeng Wattana Government Complex. The incident happened on the expressway. Medical volunteers were on-site to provide assistance.
Two men and two women were injured; currently 1 person among the injured has died after being fatally shot in the head.
We strongly condemn the use of violence against peaceful demonstrators exercising their right to express their political views, and urge law enforcement to swiftly bring the perpetrators of this incident and all incidents since November 2013 to justice.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the deceased and those injured.
