Widely respected Venerable Kovida, called by his friends and disciples alike as Sao Sra Kaw, passed away in Taunggyi on 19 January at the age of 83. His funeral is on 29 January. He had served as General Secretary of the Shan Sangha Association, based in Panglong, and as abbot of Wat Mai Sadhupradit in Bangkok and, later, of Wa Papao in Chiangmai. (SHAN)
