3 hour operation on the airman who survived in the plane crash at Hokandara.

A 3 hour operation was performed on Airman L.A.C. Chaturanga who survived in the AN-32 plane crash at Hokandara this morning.

Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that 3 teams of doctors took part in the operation and to provide other necessary treatment to Chaturanga at the ICU.

Airman Chaturanga who received critical injuries in the accident that occurred at 6.20 this morning was rushed to Sri Jayewardene hospital and transferred to Colombo National hospital later.

The pilot Squadron Leader J.M.W.N. Abeywardana, co-pilot Flight Lieutenant A.A.D.T. Amaratunga, Air force Engineer Sergeant Priyantha and Corporal Wijerathna died in the accident.

Addressing a media conference in Colombo, Air force Chief of Staff Air vice Marshal Gagan Bulathsinhala said that an investigation team has been appointed to probe the accident.

He also requested the residents not to take away parts of the ill-fated aircraft that has been scattered in the area as investigations are still continuing. MORE ON

Buddhism is in danger nowadays in our current world. Buddhist girls are being raped, being converted to Islam unwillingly, being attacked violently by extremists.
Buddhists temple and statues are destroyed by Jihadists in so many regions but world’s medias are neglecting the real truth.

We Buddhist are minorities people in the whole world. So, people must safeguard the Buddhist minority who are giving the light of wisdom to the whole world. If Sun and moon disappear, electricity can give light for us but if the Buddha’s teachings disappear totally, the world is going to be dark side all the times. Losing the Buddha’s Dharma is great loss for all the worlds.

Rescuers were searching for several asylum seekers believed to be missing from a boat that sank off Indonesia while heading to Australia. Nearly 190 survivors were brought to safety and nine bodies were recovered.

The sinking occurred days after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd changed Australia’s refugee policy so that people who arrive by boat will no longer be allowed to settle in the country. The move was a response to domestic political pressure and a string of deadly accidents involving rickety boats packed with asylum seekers bound for Australia.

Local police chief Lt. Col. Dedy Kusuma said on Wednesday that 189 people were rescued and nine bodies were recovered after the tugboat sank on Tuesday night about 5 kilometres off the coast of West Java’s Cianjur district. It was not clear how many people were missing.

West Java police spokesman Col. Martinus Sitompul said the survivors included a pregnant Sri Lankan woman who was being treated at a health center in the town of Cidaun. A baby boy and a 10-year-old girl were among the dead.

Sri Lanka To Ban Time Magazine: “The Face Of Buddhist Terror”

Time magazine, carrying a cover story comparing the Myanmar Buddhist Monk Wirathu and his organization `Buddhist 969` to the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), has been banned in Sri Lanka, reports say.

The cover story on the July 1st issue of Time Magazine is entitled ‘The Face of Buddhist Terror and features Myanmar’s extremist monk Wirathu, who has been accused of stoking anti-Muslim sentiments with his 969 movement, launched in February, which calls on Buddhists to boycott Muslim shops and businesses.

There have been at least three anti-Muslim riots this year in central and northern Myanmar, leaving thousands homeless.

In June 2012, Buddhist communities in the Rakhine State attacked Rohingya Muslims, leaving 167 people dead and 125,000 people homeless.

The Bodu Bala Sena Group has lobbied the Media Ministry and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to ensure the offending issue never reaches the news stands in Sri Lanka, reports media.

However, President of Myanmar has denied allegations against the monk Wirathu, stating that the monk Ashin Wirathu is making a great effort to secure peace and prosperity in Myanmar.

The Myanmar President condemns the content in Time Magazine, denoting that it is an attempt to endanger the efforts made to develop trust between the two parties.
