27.march 2013

Two point of reasons on conflicts in Burma.

599766_4770155135940_57020006_n

There are many reasons which ignited the recent conflicts in Burma.

During twenty-five years of military rule in Burma,

the corrupted military officers who knew nothing of civilian administrations

FAILED TO IDENTIFY ILLEGALLY

buildings mosques which shouldn’t be religious ground.

The worse of the worst happened in various townships level military authorities,

who turned their eyes blind on buildings mosques after taking bribes from them

without proper building permissions.

In Burma, most of the mosques are exercising freedom of religion

by using loudspeakers which can be heard the whole town;

due to the forced conversions on other believers who are not Islam;

due to the Islamic terrorists oppressing Buddhist, Christians,

Hindus and religious minorities in Islam majority countries;

and due to the Bengali illegal immigrant (so-called Rohingya)

Islamic terrorists massacring Rakhine Buddhists:

then the peaceful simple Burmese civilians have been really suffered in their minds.

When various reasons combined together at certain point the already annoyed

public cannot tolerate anymore by expressing their angers in various forms.

This is part of the reasons how the conflicts started.

For your information, Leon (de Riedmatten) and I met with XXXXXX and XXX representatives in Yangon. We were in general agreement.

It would be good to have an Arakan meeting in Bangkok. EBO can fund and help organize it but we need a joint letter from the legitimate voice and decision makers of XXX, XXXX, AA, ALP, ANC, NUPA, and DPA, giving a short statement on why they want to meet and who should be invited. We can only fund leaders from the region – not from Europe or North America. We will take care of the logistics and the leaders can decide their own political agenda. If experts are needed, the leaders can request who they want or we can recommend experts if the leaders say what kind of experts they would like to have.

It might be best to have the meeting in November before or after the WGEC meeting and workshop.

Best regards – Harn

BURMA: Reuters reporter uncovers faults(wrong pics) in Al Jazeera’s ‘Hidden Genocide’

“The image used at 16 minutes 16 seconds of the video clip is not from Sittwe as Al Jazeera claimed,” the Reuters reporter said. “The incident in that photo was from a blast in December 2011 at a state-owned medical warehouse in Yangon,” he wrote.

“I myself took that photo for the Reuters.”

“There are also [other] mistakes in the footage. They said that the arson attacks occurred on June 8, but there were no fires in Sittwe [then]. They first happened in Mingan village on June 10. I saw a few snapshots of fires mentioned as ‘occurrences on June 9’ in the footage,” he added.

The image used to depict an arson attack on June 8 was a photo taken by a photographer with news agency Agence France-Presse on June 17, Soe Zeya Htun wrote. He stressed that he was not claiming the whole footage was right or wrong, but he was of the view there were some errors.

In the mid-December, however, Minister of Border Affairs Thein Htay dismissed the use of the word “genocide” to describe the conflict.

“Just think for yourselves,” the Minister said, explaining that the number of “them” [Bengalis] living in the state had risen from 250,000 in 1980 to 1 million last year.

“Neither the residents of Rakhine nor the Bengalis were terrorists,” he added. “It was a clash between the two ethnic groups. Both groups have political interests and they tend to use the media for their gain,” the minister said.

“We will respond [to specific media reports] if necessary. We do not want to waste our time,” he said.

The Hidden Genocide, documentary broadcasted by Al Jazeera Television used some photos which were taken in other events by Ko Soe Zaya Tun(https://www.facebook.com/Poemgrapher?fref=ts), reporter from Reuters . Ko Soe Zeya Tun explained in his social network, Facebook, that 16 min 16 sec of displayed time of Al Jazeera’s documentary showed some photos, they said situation in Rakhine State, these were taken by myself in the firing in Yangon, exactly in Set San Township. “They used my photos, pretending as the Rakhine events” , said Reuters’s reporter.

The group included 14 females, some of them among the 16 children. There were 10 children under the age of 10, including three just three years old.

It was the first time family groups have been sighted, with thousands of oppressed Rohingya now taking to the sea in record numbers.

The decision was made last night to treat the Rohingya group as though they had landed in Thailand. They had been intercepted at sea off southern Phuket after their boat’s motor ran out of fuel.

Union Election Commission has warned Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP) not to publish any “racist” article.

The commission chairman summoned RNDP leaders to their office in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw, on Monday to convey the message, said sources.
The commission chief also demanded an explanation for publishing the pictures of Thida Htwe, who was allegedly killed by three Muslims on May 28 in Rakhine state, in a calendar and forbade the RNDP leaders to organise a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the fall of the Rakhine Empire on December 31, said Zaw Aye Maung, Rakhine National Affairs minister for Yangon Region.
RNDP chairman Dr. Aye Maung said the party would reconsider the use of racist language in their party newsletter.
He claimed that the calendar was intended to raise funds for a monastery named after Thida Htwe at the request of her parents.
Aye Maung said denied that December 31 would be celebrated by the party itself.
The party leaders have been warned of being prosecuted for failing to provide “formidable explanations” for their actions, said Zaw Aye Maung. “And the chairman accepted our explanations up to a certain extent.”
The two bouts of clashes in the Rakhine state in June and October left nearly 200 people killed and over 100,000 displaced.

A network of Rakhine social groups have warned that the resettlement of “Bengalis” against the will of the ethnic Rakhine people can lead to another round of conflict in the western Rakhine state.

A platform of various social groups from 18 townships in Rakhine State, Rakhine Social Network (RSN) also cautioned the authorities concerned that attempts to solve the conflict “by showing disregard to wishes of the local nationals” would not be a correct one.

The warnings came in a statement issued following the RSN formation through a two-day social network conference at a Buddhist monastery in Taungup, which ended on December 16. The conference was organised to facilitate social and economic progress for the Rakhine people.

During the conference, the participants said the recent riots in the Rakhine state stemmed from territorial disputes between Rakhine locals and “Bengali trespassers”.

The statement also said RSN would keep an eye on UN agencies, NGOs and international NGOs to see whether their activities weaken the Rakhine nationals by empowering the Bengalis.

Denouncing recent government crackdown on the Latpadaungtaung copper mine protesters, the RSN asked the government to release correct data on exploration of natural resources in Rakhine state.

The resources should be tapped only if the locals give their consent, it said.

Twelve illegal migrants sent back to Bangladesh- remaining illegal immigrants are still in Myanmar.

Monday, 10 December 2012  credit EMG

Twelve Bangladeshis released from prison were repatriated to their country on December 2, according to the Immigration and Manpower Department of Maungdaw district.

They had been imprisoned at the Thandwe prison for violating the Myanmar Immigration law.

They were sent back to their country through No 1 harbour gate of Maungdaw border.

The 12 illegal immigrants were received by H Kunsul Hasan, the official rank of captain from No 42 Border Guard Battalion of Bangladesh.

The actual number of illegal immigrants released from Thandwe prison under the president’s amnesty order was 86 Bangladeshis.

Although Myanmar had asked Bangladesh to receive all of them back, Bangladesh took back only 12.
The remaining illegal immigrants are still in Myanmar.

Thoughts after reading statement by a group of International Buddhist urging the Burmese to show mutual respect and compassion to the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State.

BY RICK HEIZMAN 11.12.2012
THE WRITER TRAVELED THROUGH RAKHINE STATE IN BURMA -MYANMAR
My thoughts after reading the statement by a group of International Buddhist urging the Burmese to show
mutual respect and compassion to the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State.

This will surely upset and disappoint many many Rakhine people and monks, who feel:

THIS REINFORCES THE FALSE AND DELIBERATELY MANUFACTURED ACCUSATIONS
that the Rakhine Buddhist people and even the monks are the violent ones, and that the Rohingya are
just nice and innocent victims.
The truth is quite opposite – the Rakhine Buddhist have been the victims of major (historical and documented)
massacres by the Bengali Muslims (Rohingya) and a brutal and bloody campaign to kill or drive the
Buddhist out of their own homeland and to establish an independent Islamic State in that corner of Burma.

IT IS LIKE TELLING TIBETAN PEOPLE AND MONKS AND ACTIVIST TO BE MORE RESPECTFUL TO THE CHINESE
and at the same time not thinking to tell the Chinese to be respectful.

THIS STATEMENT SHOULD BE DIRECTED AT THE ROHINGYA (perhaps not all, but most),
who not only have no respect, nor compassion for the Buddhist and other non-muslims, but
actually have shear contempt, and a ‘holy’ goal of driving out the indigenous Rakhine Buddhist culture,
and creating a pure Islamic State that would NOT be governed by the infidel government of Burma.

BANGLADESH SHOULD BE THE RECIPIENT OF THIS STATEMENT. The Rohingya came from the Bangladesh
area, they speak the same Bengali language, eat the same food, share the same DNA, practice the same
type of Islam, and until a few decades ago were called Bengali Muslims, or some were called Chittagong
Muslims. In both cases the origin of the Muslims is clear – they weren’t called Rakhine Muslims, or
Arakan Muslims.

SOME KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF THE AREA IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT in order to really
understand the situation. It is essential to know about the huge influx of Muslims into an indigenous Buddhist
culture, and the intolerance, contempt and violence the Buddhist faced again and again, until they realized that
THEY CANNOT TOLERATE THE INTOLERANT ANYMORE – and that they faced the loss of their homeland,
their culture, their holy places, and their identity.

BANGLADESH HATES THE PEOPLE WE NOW CALL ‘ROHINGYA’ FOR THIS REASON:
When Bangladesh fought for Independence from Pakistan, in 1971, the Bengali Muslims living in Arakan or India
sided with Pakistan, not Bangladesh! They favored the more strict Islam of Pakistan. Bangladesh will not forgive
them to this day, and the officials (as in India) keep volumes of hand written records, which reveal – when asked
for father’s and grandfather’s name, birthplace villages, etc – if their father, uncle, or grandfather supported
Pakistan then. If yes, then the whole family is ‘marked’ and is not welcome in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will not take them, or help them, and the Rohingya identified refugees inside Bangladesh are
treated terribly in retched camps that the Bangladesh government does not even allow UN or NGO’s to visit.
If their own place of origin can refuse to have or care for them, then
WHY IS IT ASSUMED THAT BURMA ‘MUST’ ACCOMMODATE THEM
(that they mostly seized as uncontrolled large numbers of them came across the border during the last 80 years)
AND THAT BURMA MUST GIVE THEM CITIZENSHIP?
Citizenship usually requires one to have an allegiance with the people and system of the country,
and not a contempt of the native people, their religions, their holy sites, and an agenda to break off and be
independent, and cleansed of the indigenous people and culture.

There has been a continuum of Muslim conquest and annihilation of Buddhist people and culture since Islam
began it’s march of conquest towards the east. Great Buddhist cultures were eliminated, often down to the last Buddhist,
in what is now Afghanistan, Pakistan, Northern India, and the area now called Bangladesh – which Pali text
describes as Buddhist kingdoms beginning in the 3rd century B.C. known as ancient Bengal or Vanga –
is now down to less than one percent Buddhist.
THE NEXT LAND ON THIS ROUTE OF CONQUEST IS ARAKAN,
and the conquest has been under way for 100 years now. The northern Arakan area of Maungdaw and Buthidaung
went from being nearly all Buddhist, to 95 percent Muslim in less than a century, and that was achieved by
massive massacres of Buddhist by Muslims (example: 1942 – over 400 Buddhist villages burned down completely,
30,000 Buddhist killed in the towns, 100,000 Buddhist killed in the surrounding area, including many monks,
and many Buddhist temples and monasteries burned and destroyed – often with the monks and villagers inside and
surrounded so they couldn’t escape.

THESE TWO PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO LIVE PEACEFULLY WITH EACH OTHER.
The truth is that the Rakhine Buddhist could respect and be compassionate to other people – they have
no problem with the minority Hindu, Christian, or even the Kaman Muslim (non-Bengali/Rohingya) population.
But, the Rohingya, according to their actions, their imams, their harsh interpretation of their faith, their contempt for
anyone of another faith, their shameless manipulation of media with fake photos, false history, fraudulent facts,
cannot tolerate others. They should only live in a Muslim country so that they don’t harm other non-muslim people.
Attempts to help them ‘understand and learn to respect each other’ are just going to insure future massacres,
and the loss of the Arakan Buddhist Culture.

If anyone feels this is anti-muslim then study the issue.
If it involved French Jesuit nuns I would criticize French Jesuit nuns.
There are many good muslims – I know that – and most of them don’t approve of the extremist and
violent muslims which are an issue in many parts of the world.

PERHAPS THIS (below) IS THE ANSWER – it’s a huge undertaking – but it has a very high chance of solving the issue:

Exchange the one million persecuted Buddhists in Bangladesh for the 800,000 Rohingya in Arakan.

There would be no more destruction of Buddhist towns, villages, temples
and monasteries in Arakan. No more tension and violence.

The Rohingya would be in the country of their origin –
same language, same religion, same look, same DNA, same customs.
No non-muslims, no holy war.
