5 DECEMBER 2014 BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police discovered a “slaughterhouse” at Cherok Tokun, where Myanmar nationals were believed to have been killed and dismembered.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said two Myanmar nationals aged between 30 and 40 were detained at the homes in a village last night.

“These men have been renting two units at a village here for the past four months.

“They have carried out the butchering at one unit, and lived in another unit six doors away,” he said when met at the scene today.

Police say that these were revenge killings and was among Myanmar nationals.

On Nov 24, a package containing a human head was in front of a restaurant at Taman Impian Ria, Bukit Mertajam.

On Thursday, residents found a headless torso and a hand inside a gunny sack in a canal at Sungai Bakap.

On Monday, a human head and left arm were found in a plastic bag near a garbage bin at Machang Bubok, near here.

So far, police have detained over 15 Myanmar nationals facilitate investigations into the heinous killings of their countrymen.

The spate of killings and the gruesome find of bodies in many different places of Penang have raised concerns of possible communal clashes between Myanmar nationals.

Police, however, denied there were communal clashes in the community but were merely revenge killings over debt, jealousy and other social issues.

LOOK FIRST TO YOUR OIC COUNTRIES !- The secretary general of the OIC discusses discrimination, freedom of expression and religious persecution in the West.

Last week in the UK, a Muslim convert killed a British soldier on a London street, and this was quickly followed by several attacks on mosques in the country.

When events such as these take place, and tensions rise, is there anyone around who speaks on behalf of all Muslims? One man says he does. (JOKE OR)

Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu is the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Headquartered in Saudi Arabia and funded by Islamic nations across the world, the OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organisation after the United Nations and has membership of 57 states spread over four continents.

The OIC has ramped up its public relations efforts in the last year or so, often issuing press releases when violent events take place. For example, it condemned the recent attack on the French embassy in Tripoli; called for the release of abducted Christian archbishops in Syria; and, after the attack at the Boston Marathon, Ihsanoglu expressed, “satisfaction” when the police apprehended the suspects, but he also urged the US authorities to ensure the safety of Muslims from being targeted in response.

Sceptics of the OIC say the organisation is merely a vehicle for empty meetings and rhetoric, but it has had some notable successes. It managed to push through a UN human rights resolution against religious discrimination, and it found a helpful partner in this job: Hillary Clinton, when she was US Secretary of State.

Curfew imposed in Lashio following clashes-muslim man burn buddhist wife-video

Fresh clashes occurred in Lashio, Myanmar’s northeastern Shan state, yesterday after a Muslim man had doused a Buddhist woman with fuel and set her on fire.

Two Islamic religious buildings and shops were set on fire in the clashes, which prompted authorities to impose a curfew.

UPDATE 30.MAY

Nay Win, aged 48, was chasing after Aye Aye Win, 24, trying to douse her with fuel. At that time, the woman was at her petrol shop near the township maternal and child welfare association office by the Union Highway.

Nay Win is the Indian-Chinese man of Islamic faith while Aye Aye Win is the Chinese-Myanmar woman of Buddhist faith.

The woman tried to run but was caught and doused with the fuel by the man, who was later beaten by angry local people from nearby areas.

As soon as the information spread, police arrived at the scene and arrested Nay Win.

At 5pm, about 150 locals had gathered in front of No (1) Police Station, shouting for the handing over of the arsonist to them.

According to the local reporter of the Daily Eleven, the man and woman did not know each other before, and the man living in Kengtung only arrived in Lashio three days ago. He was staying in a hotel, the reporter said.

Aye Aye Win, whose hands, legs and hair were burnt, is receiving treatment at the emergency ward of Lashio People’s Hospital.

An official from Shan State Police Force said: “The incident occurred after a row between Nay Win and Aye Aye Win at the petrol shop. We found two stimulant tablets from the pocket of the man’s trousers. The father of the victim has opened a case at the police station.”

Five relatives of the victim and about 10 Buddhist monks arrived at the police station at 7pm, shouting for taking the arsonist out of the police station and gradually, the number reached about 30. The suspect was sent to Lashio Prison at 7.30pm, the police officer added.

Lashio Police Station has charged Nay Win with arson attack, attempted murder and drug possession.

Angry residents set fire to a mosque near Lashio Myoma market and an Islamic school on Lanmadaw Road around 7 pm. The fire spread to 15 shops near the school and was nearly extinguished by 11 pm, according to local residents.

The authorities managed to handle the mob outside the police station and all over the city around 8:30 pm and section 144 of the Penal Code has been imposed in Lashio since 9:30 pm last night.

This riot occurred on the same day the Union Peacemaking Committee and the Kachin Independence Organization held their first peace talk in Myanmar.

The majority of the population in Lashio is Chinese while few Muslims live in the city. Critics have called for the authorities to investigate which country and organization are involved in the riot and release the report to the public.

Since Thein Sein’s civilian government took office, the first riot started on June 8 2012 in Rakhine State based on Thida Htwe’s death that occurred on May 28, a day after Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh visited Myanmar to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Ten days before Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Myanmar, US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton told Myanmar Minister of Foreign Affairs Wunna Maung Lwin that US President Barack Obama will release an official announcement for the easing of investment sanctions on Myanmar.

After riots occurred in Meikhtila, Mandalay Region on March 20 this year, the riots had spread to other townships in western Bago Region. These riots occurred after the Latpadaungtaung Investigation Commission released its report on March 12 and around the time President Thein Sein went on a goodwill visit to New Zealand and Australia.

Myanmar is on alert of terror attack

Myanmar has beefed up security measures and tightened control over travelling visa after reports of possible terrorist attacks in the country, according to Min Aung, Police Lt. Col. from Headquarter of Myanmar Police Force.

“We’ve been reported the terrorists are trying to enter the country and attempt bombing. So, we have ordered [regional police forces] to step up security measures. We must be always alert as they may wait for the chance to attack. Security has been tightened at the border checkpoints, too,” he said.

Indonesian terrorist Abu Bakar Bashir has recently called for a ‘jihad’ in Myanmar, rousing the mujahideens or the Islamic militants. This alerted the regional police to carry out necessary inspections in predominantly Muslim areas, Police Col. Hla Moe from Railway Police Department of Myanmar Police Force said.

“As the terrorists say they will wage jihad in Myanmar, we have to raise our security measures. We conduct inspections at the gates of and inside the city, said Mandalay Region Police Force’s Police Lt. Col. Tun Naing.

About 600 police are on duty every day. If anything happens in the area, units will reach there in no time to take action. The police have also been equipped to handle the bombs, he said.

Magway Region Government’s Director Min Yu Shein said Magway region is a white region– peaceful area and will not allow any terrorists’ attack to happen. “We are cooperating with the police informers and the police forces. The police and soldiers are now patrolling the region every day,” he said.

Immigration officers are also strictly scrutinizing the travelers’ visa. “We are checking the foreigners’ visa systematically in accordance with the international regulations. We closely monitor those on the black list,” said Than Naing Tun, an official from the Ministry of Immigration and Population.

Police Col. Mya Win said the authorities check entries at the city gates to be aware of the strangers in the area and also inspect the hotels and motels.

Police have been ordered to implement the plans to source timely news at every level, he added.

BURMA : Yangon’s mosque fire -Police blamed burnt voltage regulator

CREDIT EMG 12.APRIL 2013

Police said a burnt voltage regulator found under the stairs along with other flammable items including diesel was the reason behind the recent fire at Yagon mosque that ended the lives of 13 children.

The witnesses told the police that the voltage regulator was used on the night before the fire incident and the regulator’s alarm was ringing while it was on fire. The regulator was a manual type so it did not automatically cut off the voltage, according to the police report released to the public.

According to the report, the fire started from overheated regulator, leaving 13 children out of 16 children falling asleep upstairs dead. Two children who managed to escape the fire said when the fire started in the downstairs landing, they woke up suddenly and run down. Although the steps were hot, they had not caught fire, they said.

Yangon Region chief minister held a press conference yesterday on the report of the investigation commission’s findings over the mosque fire that killed 13 children last Tuesday.

The commission interviewed 41 witnesses including staffs from respective departments, locals who helped during the fire, teachers and students who lived at the mosque, officials from Islamic organisations, social organisations, and the students who were sleeping upstairs and survived the fire.

Another child who was the last to escape recounted that he had to jump from upstairs as the whole stairs had caught fire, the report stated.

In the report, mosque teacher Zeya Phyo confessed that he happened to forget to take out the children sleeping upstairs as he was fearfully trying to put out the fire together with senior students.

484064_556990211008288_1713773692_nAs the fire escalated, the windows were found difficult to open because they were installed with iron bars. With the whole stairs catching fire at the same time, the children might be finding it difficult to run downstairs. Consequently, the sleeping children upstairs had presumably died of smoke when the upstairs floor caught fire, the report stated.

According to the investigation, the two responsible teachers’ poor handling of the situation led to the deaths of 13 children sleeping upstairs the mosque, the report said.

When the police showed the victims the blanket and the piece of old clothes soaked with diesel, which were found at the scene, the children said they did not know whose blanket it was and the piece of clothes was worn by a boy, but they did not remember, the report said.

According to two persons living next door to the mosque, who first saw the fire, no suspicious-looking people were found near and around the mosque during the fire, which was caused not because of arson attacks as rumours said.
The report also reviewed that two religious teachers Zeya Phyo and Khin Maung Aye spread rumours fearing blame from the public for the deaths of innocent children.

Yangon Region chief minister Myint Swe said: “When we summoned 41 witnesses to question about the mosque fire, we have learnt that the 13 deaths were caused by the two mosque teachers’ failure to handle the situation properly. But their rumours cast doubts and suspicions among the religious communities. Legal action will be taken for that in accord with the law.”
The report suggested that legal action should be taken against those two teachers.
