1st Myanmar Tachileik BIKE WEEK

1. หัวหน้ากลุ่ม Eastern Eagle MC จะส่งจดหมาย หรือสารเชื้อเชิญกลุ่ม Biker ต่างๆ จากหลายๆ ประเทศ
2. รวบรวมจำนวนกลุ่มที่ตอบรับคำเชิญ พร้อมทั้งจำนวน และรายชื่อสมาชิกของแต่ละกลุ่ม จัดส่งไปยัง Club House ของ Eastern Eagle MC
3. กลุ่ม Biker ที่อยู่ในแม่สาย หรือกลุ่มอื่นๆ ที่เดินทางมายังอำเภอแม่สาย ให้ลงทะเบียนที่ Club House สาขาแม่สาย หากจะติดต่อโรงแรม ที่พัก หรือกางเต้นท์ในอำเภอแม่สาย ทางสมาชิกกลุ่ม Eastern Eagle ที่ประจำอยู่ที่แม่สาย จะประสานงานให้ โดยค่าใช้จ่ายต่างๆ ขอให้ Biker แต่ละกลุ่มชำระกันเอง
4. เรื่องการข้ามด่านพรมแดนแม่สาย-ท่าขี้เหล็ก ทางพี่ก้อย (RENO-Chorme Devil MC, Maesai) และพี่กร (KORN-Horizon MC, Maesai) จะประสานงานให้โดยที่ค่าใช้จ่ายในการทำบัตรผ่านแดน ขอให้ Biker แต่ละกลุ่มชำระกันเอง
5. เมื่อข้ามด่านมาแล้ว ขอให้แต่ละกลุ่มเดินทางไปยัง Club House ของ Eastern Eagle MC เพื่อลงทะเลียน และรับ Biker Card พร้อมกับแผนที่/แผนผังงานแสดง เพื่อเดินทางไปยังบริเวณงาน สำหรับ Biker ทุกท่าน ฟรีค่าเข้างาน
6. หาก Biker ต้องการพักค้างคืนในโรงแรม ในท่าขี้เหล็ก ทาง Eastern Eagle MC จะดำเนินการจองที่พักให้ หรือหาก Biker ท่านใด หรือกลุ่มใด ต้องการกางเต้นท์ ทาง Eastern Eagle MC จะประสานงานสถานที่กางเต้นท์ให้ โดยขอให้ Biker แจ้งความจำนงค์ให้กับเจ้าหน้าที่ที่ Club House ในขั้นตอนการลงทะเบียน (สถานที่สำหรับการกางเต้นท์ ไม่มีค่าใช้จ่ายใดๆ แต่สำหรับค่าที่พักโรงแรม ขอให้ทาง Biker ชำระเอง)
7. Biker ท่านใด ที่ต้องการซื้อของที่ระลึกของงาน Bike Week ในครั้งนี้ ขอให้แจ้งความจำนง และชำระเงินได้ที่ Club House ซึ่งทาง Club House จะออกใบเสร็จให้จากนั้น Biker นำใบเสร็จไปรับของได้ที่บู๊ตขายของที่ระลึกในบริเวณงาน

8. อาหารกลางวัน จะบริการอาหารบุฟเฟ่ต์ ที่บู๊ต Eastern Eagle MC ในบริเวณงาน Biker ทุกท่านสามารถรับประทานฟรี ตามอัธยาศัย

9. ในบริเวณงาน จะจัดสถานที่เฉพาะ สำหรับ Biker ที่จะกางเต้นท์ สถานที่อาบน้ำ ห้องสุขาฯลฯ เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกไว้ให้อย่างเพียบพร้อม หาก Biker ท่านใดมีความประสงค์จะกางเต้นท์แต่ไม่ได้นำมาด้วย สามารถซื้อได้ที่บู๊ตในงาน

11. เมื่องานแสดงคอนเสิร์ตเริ่มต้นขึ้น จะจัดโต๊ะอาหารให้กลับกลุ่ม Biker ต่างๆ ในพื้นที่ VIP (ฟรีค่าโต๊ะ, อาหารและเครื่องดื่มเบื้องต้น Biker สามารถซื้ออาหารและเครื่องดื่มเพิ่มเติมจากบู๊ตขายอาหารและเครื่องดื่มต่างๆ ในงาน

Focus on Mae Sot, Mae Sai for new border trade zone

The government is looking at Mae Sot and Mae Sai districts in planning for a special economic zone on the northern border to accelerate trade with Myanmar.

The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) will study the proposal, which could take 300 days, Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan said after a meeting of the panel on special economic zone policy on Wednesday.

The NESDB would  send its conclusions to the ministry, he said.

Mae Sot district in Tak and Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai have been picked by the committee chaired by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The prime minister met Gen Min Aung Hlain, commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, on Tuesday and discussed the importance of border trade between the two countries and its potential to play a key role in trade ties between Thailand and Myanmar.

Mae Sot and Mae Sai are major trading posts between Thailand and Myanmar. Two-way trade between Mae Sot and Myawaddy totalled 250 billion baht in the first half of this year. Trade with Myanmar through Mae Sai totalled 6.8 billion baht during the same period, according to Commerce Ministry figures.

Most Thai exports through Mae Sot were destined for Yangon, but some products via Mae Sai were sent to southern China through northeastern Myanmar.

Mr Charupong said it was necessary to consult the Myanmar government on the plan, especially rules and regulations to benefit investors in the zones.

The special economic zone would offer tax and other incentives to attract factories.

The Thailand Development Research Institute has already  supported the setting up of special economic zones in both locations, and also in Sangkhla Buri in Kanchanaburi, at Mukdahan, opposite Laos, and in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo opposite Cambodia.

A Lieutenant, dressed in his uniform, was arrested by ONCB with 1.3 million methamphetamine tablets and 30kg of crystal methamphetamine hidden in the panels of his black Ford Ranger pickup truck.

On 10th January, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., Vichai Chaimongkol, director of Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Region 5, with Pol. Maj. Gen. Wanchai Suwansirikhet, commander of Chiang Rai station, Pol. Col. Weerawuth Chaichanamongkol, superintendent of Mae Chan station, Chiang Rai, with officers of Maejan station with Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NCB) and officers from ONCB Region 5 had enlisted forces to expand the search to arrest drug dealers in Mae Suai and followed a black Ford Ranger, suspected from delivering a large package of drugs. The driver realized he was being followed and sped away to escape. The cars reached Mae Chan where they managed to cut in front of the truck and stop the truck.
Police found the driver, Mr. Surapol Phromvijit, dressed in a lieutenant’s uniform with the identity card of Internal Security Operational Command stating that he was a special officer with responsibilities of border patrol and international security intelligence.
While the officers were arresting Mr. Surapol, he boasted to the officers about who he was and refused to allow them to search the truck. However, police enacted the search anyway and found over 1,300,000 yaba pills hidden in the back seat of the cab and 30 kg of ice. He was arrested and taken to Region 5 Police Bureau.
This is not the first arrest of officers delivering drugs, with the latest case in Nan in 2012 when a Lieutenant and four non-commissioned officers were arrested delivering drugs in a police car from Chiang Rai to Ayutthaya.

The Chiang Mai investigators continue their search into the now disgraced ex-policeman Phermsak Kawin, age 41 who was arrested at a police checkpoint in Fang with 17,800 methamphetamine tablets to deliver to customers in the city. He told police at the time that he had been hired by Muser tribesmen in Myanmar to deliver the drugs for 100,000 Baht.
However, further investigation shows that the ex-policeman was doing more than delivering and police obtained a search warrant for his rooms in Chiang Mai where they found 200 grams of heroin, 1,800 grams of Ya-ice or crystal methamphetamine and 1,000 pills of yaba as well as drug paraphernalia. He has been re-arrested and faces further legal proceedings.

Burma: Mongla to be reopened for tourists from Thailand

Tourists coming from Thailand will soon be able to travel to Mongla on the Sino-Burmese border through the Maesai-Tachilek checkpoint, according to sources close to the Mongla leadership.

Mongla is roughly 240 km from Maesai. Tourism to Mongla, also known as Burma’s Las Vegas, was closed following tensions generated by Naypyitaw’s demand that all ceasefire groups become Burma Army-run Border Guard Forces (BGFs) in 2009.

The group signed a new ceasefire agreement on 7 September, after Naypyitaw guaranteed that the matter would not be pursued further.The Thai tourist industry had expected that the city would be reopened for tourism, after the signing, but the issue came to a standstill after the Burmese side demanded that tourists must use Burmese vehicles to travel inside Burma.

“The stalemate was broken at the meeting between Sai Leun, leader of Mongla, and President Thein Sein in Kengtung on 10 April,” confided a source.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a Thai veteran security official told SHAN yesterday, according to intelligence reports, there were 17 Chinese crewmen on the 2 Chinese cargo ships when they started from China. 5 of them had taken refuge in the Wa-controlled territory following the killing of 13 others on 5 October, he said. The 9 officers, who were later arrested, had unwittingly acted on the reports, not knowing in advance about the killing. Mae Sai News in the meantime, quoting deputy police chief Phanuphong Singhara Na Ayuddhya, reported evidence on close circuit TV on the ships is conclusive that the soldiers in fact are the guilty party. (SHAN)

Number of checkpoints between Kengtung-Tachilek increases

The number of checkpoints between Kengtung and Tachilek in Shan State East, opposite Thailand’s, has more than tripled and the gate fee has also doubled, according to bus drivers.

“There were only about four or five gates before. Now there are no less than 20 gates including Burma Army checkpoints that collect fees from us,” said a driver who owns a 10-wheel truck.

The previous main checkpoints were at Markyang (Tachilek), Talerh, Mongphyak, and Kengtung.

“In addition, the gate fees have also increased,” he said.

According to him, before a bus was required to pay Kyat 3,000 (US$ 3.40) and now is up to 5,000 Kyat (US$ 5.7) and a 10 wheel truck is from 5,000 Kyat (US$ 5.7) to 10,000 Kyat (US$11.36).

However, car drivers and car owners have reportedly submitted a petition to Kengtung command in order to reduce the gate fees and to withdraw some of the checkpoints.

“Actually, Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) promised us that if we voted for its party, it would reduce the number of checkpoints and the gate fee,” said a businessman.

Two weeks ago, Naypyitaw has ordered closure of one of the bus lines, Hsarm Lao, owned by the United Wa State Army (UWSA)’s Hongpang Co. that runs between Tachilek and Kengtung, 160 km north of the border.

However, a new bus line called Tet Nay Win which is believed to be owned by the military junta authorities has replaced it. There are two others bus lines running between the two cities: Shwe Myodaw  and Shwe Yegan. The bus fare is K 4,000 (roughly $ 4) per passenger.

 

The majority of the haul comprised products made in China and transported by road via Burma for sale in the north of Thailand and Bangkok.

Counterfeit goods worth 20 million baht destroyed by Mae Sai customs

As part of the struggle against counterfeit goods, approximately 20 million bahts’ worth of pirated merchandise seized by Mae Sai customs officers during the past 9 months was recently crushed. The goods were intercepted and confiscated at border checkpoints in the area and at local markets.
Goods destroyed included movie DVD’s, music CD’s and fake designer bags and clothes. The majority of the haul comprised products made in China and transported by road via Burma for sale in the north of Thailand and Bangkok. Counterfeit goods make large profits for the manufacturers, and have caused international concern, particularly in the USA.
