Myanmar protest against unhcr for the comments made by a staff of unhcr
Nay Pyi Taw, 26 November 2016
Myanmar Permanent Representative of the office of the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, U Htin Linn called the Deputy High Commissioner of unhcr and filed a protest against a member of the staff of unhcr, John Mckissick, based in cox bazar in Bangladesh , against the government of Myanmar in an interview with the BBC that appeared in the news on 24 November. The action not only violates the code of conduct of the united nations staff, but she has also undermined the trust and cooperation granted at unhcr by Myanmar.
Under the leadership of the ministry of foreign affairs, the permanent representative of Myanmar U Htin Linn met without delay the Deputy High Commissioner for the protection of unhcr m. Volker Turk on 25 November, because the high commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner of unhcr were not available.
At the meeting, the permanent representative of Myanmar asked the unhcr to confirm officially if unhcr had actually made the allegations against the government of Myanmar. If such allegations were not made by unhcr, the permanent representative has then asked the unhcr to a press statement explaining a real situation. If such allegations were actually made by unhcr so, Myanmar deposits a strong objection against unhcr for allegations wrongdoers do without prove that the government of Myanmar has evidence, which is equivalent to a violation of the code of conduct of the united nations . The Permanent Representative also explained that the accusations were not only a detrimental effect on the government of Myanmar, but also corroded the integrity of the unhcr as a united nations agency just, not politicized, neutral and impartial, helping the refugees from all over the world . If necessary, Myanmar would also have an official objection in writing.
The Deputy High Commissioner to the protection of unhcr replied that he was also surprised by the statement of John Mckissick. This was not the official position of unhcr. He did not represent unhcr and was comprised exclusively by John Mckissick. However, unhcr will consider the question and give an appropriate response to the request of the permanent representative of Myanmar. Unhcr will continue to cooperate with the people of Myanmar and stands ready to provide all the necessary assistance.
Myanmar is of the opinion that being one of the agencies of the United Nations, unhcr staff has the duty to behave with the highest level of integrity and morality as well as a code of conduct of the united nations at the time in and out The Champs. Libels and make irresponsible statements and allegations under the pretext of the united nations or deliberately give the misleading impression as the official positions of the United Nations / statements to the media of information is neither justified nor acceptable from a staff of the united nations . Unhcr has the responsibility to account for the action of m. John mckissick aimed at deliberately wrong inform the public and to denature the integrity of the government of Myanmar.

UNCLE PRAYUTH HELP US !!!GUILTY OR NOT WE WANT JUSTICE ! Foreign countries are not permitted to have investigators look into crimes that occur in Thailand, as that would be considered a violation of the country’s sovereignty, Police chief Pol General Somyot Pumpunmuang said yesterday.
UK police officers are to travel to Thailand to help investigate the murders of two British tourists found dead on the island of Koh Tao.-
The country’s military ruler dropped objections to accepting help in the case after being pressed on the issue by UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

Dear All Myanmar around the World & the International Community,

We would like to invite you to join hands in hands with this unfair accusation of the murder case by Thai Police & Authority. The International and local community are now not able to trust that the two Myanmar nationals, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, have not had their confessions forced out of them or that evidence against them has not been tampered with. As such we cannot also trust that they are responsible. This being said, we demand a full independent investigation to be conducted by the government of the United Kingdom into these deaths. This is in the hope that the families of these victims may know justice has been served, and that the deaths of two more possible innocents might be avoided.

Migrant workers, particularly from neighbouring Myanmar, have been used as scapegoats for crimes in Thailand. We, “Myanmar Community from United Kingdom and the Whole World” are urging the British Government to carry out an Independently investigate the horrific murders of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller and save these two innocent Myanmar nationalities please. the Thai police have tortured Win and Saw into signing false confessions. Aung Myo Thant, a Burmese lawyer who is part of a legal team sent by the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok, has witnessed firsthand multiple bruises on the falsely accused and has been refused access to a third man in custody, Maung Maung, a friend of the accused that is being used by the police as a witness. The regional court has struck down a charge against London Sayadaw U Oatara after reviewing his appeal for the unfair charge under Section 295 (a) of the Penal Code.
“The authorities will not invoke Section 295 (a) against the monk. The regional court accepted the appeal and there will be no legal action related to this section in Tarmwe Township Court,” said defence lawyer Nay La.
The charge, seen as a religious offence, was reportedly invoked under the direction of Mahana Phonegyis, government-backed monks of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, the ruling body for Buddhist monks.
Five monks, including the London Sayadaw, are standing trial for religious violations in connection with a monastery property.
London Sayadaw U Oatara said his counter charges against twenty Buddhist monks including Mahana Phonegyis have been rejected by Bahan Township Court on July 16. He said he would find an appeal at district and regional levels.
Four Buddhist monks on trial, U Panyarsar, U Thondarathiri, U Nandiya and U Tayzeinda will reportedly follow the Sayadaw’s lead to remove their charges under Section 295 (A).

YANGON – Venerable monks have been denied access to hotel conference rooms to host a press conference urging the release of five Buddhist monks detained on Friday.
Five Buddhist monks from Maha Thandi Thukha monastery in Yangon were disrobed and detained at Insein prison for offending the state religious ruling committee.
The religious dispute came to a head last Tuesday when police, officials from the Religious Affairs Ministry and some 250 monks from Yangon Sangha Nayaka Committee raided and shut down the monastery, run the venerable abbot Penang Sayadaw.
The authorities took some 20 monks into custody and have since disrobed and charged five — including the abbot’s disciple, English national Sayadaw U Ottara — for religious offences under Section 295 (a) 20/90 of the Penal Code at Tarmwe Court.
Sayadaw U Pamauk Kha aimed to hold a press conference on June 15 but found there was no available place to rent.
“We went to Sky Star Hotel owned by Shwe Than Lwin Company on June 14 morning to rent a hall and the hotel staff agreed. When we came to pay a deposit in the afternoon they didn’t accept us. They lied to us and denied saying that the rooms were already full,” said U Pamauk Kha.
Other followers found similar difficulties, with many owners refusing to associate themselves with the monastery for fear of repercussions from the government.
“Many owners agreed to rent their places before knowing the case but then refused us after hearing that we were from Maha Thandi Thukha monastery. On June 20, Sayadaw U Oatta and monks will be hearing at Tarmwe Court. We will know what to do while meeting with the Sayadaw U Oattara,” said Ye Min Oo.

Penang Sayadaw, abbot of MahaThandiThukha monastery, yesterday lashed out at the authorities for defrocking five monks before investigating their alleged religious offence.
Asked by Daily Eleven, Penang Sayadaw was commenting on the Tuesday’s raid at his monastery which led to the remanding and disrobing of the five monks.
The abbot, who has been on a trip to Japan, said he would return and resolve the incident carried out by secular authorities as well as the Regional SanghaMahaNayaka Committee, the ruling body for Buddhist monks.
“The Regional SanghaMahaNayaka Committee has the mandate. We do not have any mandate; therefore we will watch and respond to the actions they carried out. I will return to Myanmar to solve the problem. I cannot say exactly when I am going to come back. It may be tomorrow. It is difficult to set the date,” said the abbot, also known as U Pannavamsa.
The five monks are U Ottara (Sayadaw from England), U Thondnara, U Pannawura (Sayadaw from London), U Nanniya and a Sayadaw (name unknown) from Rakhine. They are guests at the monastery, according to the abbot.
The abbot said he suspected foul play in the defrocking process and that he questioned whether the decision to deprive the monkhood reflected the view of the entire ruling body for Buddhist monks.
“The Sangha code of conduct office has to determine whether a monk should be disrobed. Depriving monkhood without investigation is against Buddhist teaching, code of conduct and Sangha laws. The incident has caused uneasiness among local and foreign monks. The order of Regional Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee is based on 47 monks in the committee, representing some 500,000 monks. I want to ask them whether their order was really based on the view of all 47 monks,” said the abbot.
Under the instruction of the committee, the five monks were charged for religious offence under Section 295 (a) 20/90 of the Penal Code at Tarmwe Court.
The five have been disrobed and are currently detained at Insein prison, according to Friday’s news reports. Continue reading “#BURMA #MYANMAR #Hotels #deny #evicted #monks #rooms to #host #Press conference”

Five Buddhist monks from Maha Thandi Thukha monastery in Yangon were disrobed and remanded at Insein prison for offending the religious ruling committee, temple followers said.
The religious dispute came to the head on Tuesday when police, officials from Religious Affairs Ministry and some 250 monks from Yangon Sangha Nayaka Committee raided and shut down the monastery, run by abbot the venerable Penang Sayadaw.
The authorities took some 20 monks into custody.
Sein Maw, the head of Yangon Region Religious Affairs Department, said 15 of 20 detained monks were already released.
The remaining five detainees, including the abbot’s disciple English national Sayadaw U Ottara, have been charged for religious offence under Section 295 (a) 20/90 of the Penal Code.
“Monks have to disrobe themselves if they are tried. I don’t know where they are being held. Fifteen were released after questioning. We have to charge the remaining five. We do not want to harm both sides – the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee (the ruling body for Buddhist monks) and the detained monks. We are obliged to carry out the order of the ruling committee,” said Sein Maw.
Film star Khin Than Nwe, abbot’s disciple, said Tamwe Township police station had informed her about defrocking and remanding the monks.
After witnessing the trial at Tamwe Township Court, a monk U Pamaukkha said: “I asked the court officials whether they were being tried as monks or laymen. I was told they were brought to court after being disrobed. The trial will resume June 20.”
A monk, U Pamaukkha, who visited the trial at Tamwe Township Court said:
“I want to demand that they should be unconditionally released. I also want to urge those Buddhism followers to work together (in securing the release),” said the monk.
The five monks were charged for religious offence even though director Tun Nyunt from the ministry had given assurance on Wednesday that the case would be handled by a highest level body formed by SSMNC.
“Similar cases had been filed in our office and no one was arrested by our office,” said an officer from Tamwe Township police station. “Now, SSMNC has directly filed a lawsuit at the court. Police involvement in the raid was aimed at preventing conflict. Charging five monks after disrobing them is just an alleged report.” Continue reading “#LONDON #CALLING #DEMONSTRATION #ARRESTED #BUDDHIST #MONK #BURMA #MYANMAR”

Must Read-Thailand’s Military – An Important Independent Institution

Thailand’s Military – An Important Independent Institution

December 8, 2013 (Tony Cartalucci) – The Asia Foundation was a creation of the CIA, and to this day remains a front for the US State Department and the corporate financier interests of Wall Street and London. Their attempts to overthrow the sovereign institutions of Thailand by backing the regime of Thaksin Shinawatra has required them to conduct extensive research into the population of Thailand in order to find the strengths and weaknesses of both the Thai establishment, and their proxy, the Shinawatra regime. To that end, they have conducted several “national public perception surveys of the Thai electorate,” (2010’s full .pdf here), revealing what must have been for them and their proxies, very unpleasant realities within Thai society.

Graph: Up from 62% the year before, the public perception of the military as an important independent institution stood at 63%. Even in in the regime’s rural strongholds, support stood at 61%. The only group that did not support the military, was the regime’s tiny “red” minority, but even amongst them, 30% still supported the army.

….

It was revealed that Thais identifying themselves as the regime’s “red” supporters represented a minuscule minority – some 14%, half of which only described themselves as “leaning toward “red.”  More importantly, it was revealed that many more Thais (62%) believed the Thai military, who ousted Thaksin Shinawatra from power in 2006 in a bloodless coup, and who put down two pro-Thaksin insurrections in 2009 and 2010, was an important independent institution that has helped safeguard and stabilize the country.

While the West and the Shinawatra regime itself attempt to portray the army as widely reviled for its “undemocratic interventions,” the Thai people simply do not see it that way. The West of course, does not honestly believe the Thai Army is “undemocratic” – instead, they understand that it is an independent institution over which they exert very little influence, and that it constitutes the ultimate check-and-balance of last resort, standing between the Kingdom of Thailand and Wall Street’s wholesale pilfering of the nation.

Despite years of the West attempting to cultivate close relationships with the Thai military through operations like the annual “Cobra Gold” exercise, Thailand’s brass appears to be cogent enough to value their freedom more than slick promises, funding, and vague enticements the West has made and then broken with so many nations before. Like the Egyptian and even Pakistani armies, they are more than willing to take funding, training, and weapons, and still carry on with an independent agenda.

Image: Thailand’s military mobilized in 2006 to oust Wall Street-backed dictator Thaksin Shinawatra, who just the previous evening was sitting before the CFR giving his foreign sponsors a progress report. While the West attempts to portray the Thai military as “undemocratic,” the reality is the Thai army carried out what it was duty-bound to perform – the defense of Thailand against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

….

The hope for the West is eventually establishing a contact somewhere in the upper brass that will take the Pentagon’s “phone call” at a pivotal moment in Thailand’s history. However, the pressure the US has put on the Thai military since 2006’s ousting of US-backed Thaksin Shinawatra, should be evidence enough for senior and junior officers to understand the true nature of the West’s overtures. The final goal for the West is to reduce the military as subordinate to which ever proxy regime they are able to eventually install, curtailing indefinitely the military’s widely respected, unique traditional role in Thai society.

The military would then become yet another tentacle of Wall Street’s influence, like in Cambodia where entire units are literally sold out to foreign interests as mercenaries to protect land seized out from under the Cambodian people.

In Thailand today, as the West’s embattled proxy regime struggles to stay in power, the Western media is again aiming its rhetoric at the Thai military, attempting to preemptively shame it into standing on the sidelines. Of course, the West’s media has lost significant statue in recent years, and attempts to shame the Thai military into inaction during a pivotal point in Thai history should be perceived both inside and beyond Thailand as negligible at best.
