DRAFT KACHINLAND IMMIGRATION LAW FOR GENERAL VISITORS TO KACHINLAND (Federal State Government Only)

(1). General Visitors (foreign/domestic visitors) to Kachinland must have an Inner Line Permit (ILP).

(2). The Inner Line Permit (ILP) may apply online or Kachinland Government Representative Offices.

(3). General Visitors must disclose their purpose of journey and intended day of their stay. On expired of their stay permit, the visitor must extend their stay permit.

(4). General Visitors will have no land rights and voting rights except business engagement (special rule apply) in partnership with local Kachinland citizen.

(5). The Kachinland Government will deploy the Inner Line check points in every entry/exit port (e.g. Kata, Myitkyina airport) to Kachinland.

Inner Line Permit (ILP)
Who requires ILP.
Domestic/Foreign Tourist who want to enter Kachinland are need to have ILP.

Procedure: 2 copies of Passport size photograph for Myitkyina District
• 3 copies of Passport size photograph for other district
• Free application form
• Dollar ?? (TBA by Kachinland legislative body) for Processing fee

Fees To be Paid:
• Dollar ?? (TBA by Kachinland legislative body)- Application form and renewal/extension fee

Temporary ILP : 15 days at a time which can be extended to another 15 days / one month in exceptional cases.

Normal ILP : 6 months which can be extended for another 6 months.

Immigration officials :3 Myanmar-Thai border checkpoints will be open to foreign visitors for entry and exit as of August

Thai-Myanmar border gates will be designated as official international border gates as of August 28 this year, according to Myanmar’s Ministry of Immigration and Population.
This will allow Thai citizens and foreign tourists with – valid passports – to enter Myanmar by land and depart from other official gateways including Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay.
A bilateral agreement between the two countries will create official gates at Tarchileik-Mae Sai, Myawady-Mae Sot, Kawthaung-Ranong and Htee Khee-Sunaron. 
No official changes have yet been made concerning length of stay, renewal of visa, and visa fees. And –  visa-on-arrival will still not be available at the border gates    -due to the current security situation, officials said.
Visitors can visit anywhere in the country except restricted areas released in this January by Ministry of Home Affairs. The list of the restricted areas can be acquired at any of the border gates.

Myanmar will allow visitors using the border crossings of Tarchileik, Myawady and Kawthaung via Thailand to go anywhere except restricted areas starting in August, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Information.Overland travellers, who must have a current passport and visa, can now cross the border everyday between 6.30am to and 6.30pm. The immigration checkpoints are located at Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge crossing Moei River. Myawaddy, a small township sitting opposite Mae Sot district, is the gateway to Kayin and Mon states.

The allowance aims to increase the arrival of foreign travellers. In the announcement, the Ministry of Information stated that visitors can go anywhere except where there are security concerns and depart from any exits which the government allows.

According to the bilateral agreement between Myanmar and Thailand for border crossing, the official entrance and exits are Tarchileik-Mae Sai, Myawady-Mae Sot and Kawthaung-Ranong.

Aung Win Thein, Department Head of Immigration Administration and National Registration of Myawady district said that as the government reduces the restriction, the job opportunities and tourism industry will show a good signs of improvement.
