พ.ต.ท.ศรายุทธ อรุณฉาย สารวัตรงานแผนและการฝึก กองกำกับการควบคุมฝูงชน 1 กองบังคับการกองร้อยควบคุมฝูงชน ชี้แจงว่า กองกำกับการควบคุมฝูงชน 1 ได้นำกำลังเข้าร่วมปฏิบัติหน้าที่ จำนวน 1 กองร้อย ซึ่งมีเพียงอุปกรณ์ป้องกันตัว โดยจะมีพลยิงแก๊สน้ำตา และพลยิงกระสุนยาง ชุดละ 1 นายเท่านั้น พร้อมยืนยันว่า การชี้แจงในวันนี้ (7 มกราคม) เพื่อให้สื่อมวลชนและประชาชน ได้รับทราบข้อเท็จจริง ซึ่งการใช้กระสุนยาง เพื่อเตือนและเว้นระยะห่างกับกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุม โดยไม่มีการเล็งใส่ตัวบุคคลเด็ดขาด และเน้นยิงในที่โล่งแจ้งเท่านั้น ส่วนการใช้แก๊สน้ำตาแบบน้ำ ใช้เพื่อแยกผู้ชุมนุมกับผู้ไม่เกี่ยวขัอง ซึ่งสีที่ผสมน้ำ ก็เป็นสีผสมอาหาร ไม่มีอันตราย
สำหรับแก๊สน้ำตาที่เจ้าหน้าที่ใช้ จะมี 2 แบบ คือ แบบยิง สามารถยิงได้ในระยะ 50-150 เมตร ส่วนแบบขว้าง แบ่งเป็นชนิดผงแป้ง และควัน ซึ่งสามารถขว้างได้ไกลที่สุดไม่เกิน 25 เมตร ขณะที่ อาวุธปืนที่ใช้ยิงแก๊สน้ำตานั้น มีขนาด 38 มม. ลำกล้องไม่มีเกลียว ไม่สามารถใส่ลูกกระสุนปืน เอ็ม 79 ได้ เนื่องจากกระสุนเอ็ม 79 มีขนาด 40 มม.
พ.ต.ท.ศรายุทธ กล่าวว่า กรณีชายชุดดำบนดาดฟ้า อาคารกระทรวงแรงงาน ซึ่งเป็นตำรวจในสังกัดกองกำกับการควบคุมฝูงชน 1 จำนวน 10 นาย ขึ้นไปปฏิบัติหน้าที่ ได้รับคำสั่งให้ถอดสัญลักษณ์ (อาร์ม) ออก จึงทำให้มีลักษณะคล้ายชายชุดดำ
ทางด้าน พ.ต.อ.กำธร อุ้ยเจริญ ผู้กำกับการกลุ่มงานเก็บกู้และตรวจสอบวัตถุระเบิด เปิดเผยว่า ภายหลังสถานการณ์ความวุ่นวายที่สนามกีฬาไทย-ญี่ปุ่น ดินแดง ยุติลง เจ้าหน้าที่ชุดเก็บกู้วัตถุระเบิด และกองพิสูจน์หลักฐาน ได้เข้าตรวจสอบบริเวณโดยรอบ พบของกลาง ประทัดยักษ์ หนังสติ๊ก ระเบิดปิงปอง ที่มีการดัดแปลง นำตะปู หัวน็อตติดโดยรอบ ซึ่งหากโดนจุดสำคัญก็จะทำให้เสียชีวิตได้
ทั้งนี้ เจ้าหน้าที่ได้มีการสาธิตการยิงกระสุนยาง แก๊สน้ำตา เปรียบเทียบกับเสียงของระเบิดปิงปอง ประทัดยักษ์ ซึ่งการสาธิตการใช้ปืนลูกซองยิงกระสุนยาง พบว่า เสียงของการยิงกระสุนยาง จะเบากว่าการยิงกระสุนจริง ส่วนเสียงการยิงแก๊สน้ำตา ก็จะเบากว่า ประทัดยักษ์ซึ่งมีเสียงดังและทุ้มกว่า

BANGKOK, Jan 2 – Police said the so-called “men in black” seen on a building rooftop were actually policemen and they did not fire live ammunition at anti-government protesters who tried to break into the Thai-Japanese stadium last month.
Metropolitan police deputy commander Pol Gen Vorapong Chewpreecha admitted today that the black-clad men seen on the rooftop of labour ministry’s building on Dec 23 were a crowd-control unit of 10 policemen.
He clarified the matter after police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew confirmed that the men were police personnel and promised a full investigation and disciplinary action if found guilty.
Gen Vorapong explained that the ten-man unit was deployed to guard the area. All wore bullet-proof vests.
Pol Lt Gen Sophon Pisuthiwong, as deputy commander of police operations on that day, said all ten officers dispatched to observe the situation as the police on site were surrounded by protesters. The police had only one teargas launcher and one weapon which fired rubber bullets.
The senior police officer said 11 police were wounded in Dec 23 shooting, while some others were hurt by fireworks or homemade explosives introduced by an unknown group of people who intervened to instigate unrest.
Pol Gen Jarumporn Suramanee, adviser to the Royal Thai Police Office, said the killing of Pol Sen Sgt Maj Narong Pitisit who was shot dead in the incident was not the work of the men in black on the rooftop.
He said an autopsy stated that Pol Sen Sgt Maj was not shot from above, but from a horizontal trajectory.
Gen Jarumporn noted that four types of cartridge casings were found at clash sites, including 9mm, 11mm, 38mm and 32mm, adding that experts believe 16 firearms were used in the attack, while police had only batons and shields. (MCOT online news)
The Rural Medical Network, independent medical volunteers, and medical staff from leading universities (Chulalongkorn, Thammasat, Mahidol (Siriraj and Ramathibodi, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Songkhlanakarin, Walailaksana) has denounced the violence that took place at the Thai-Japanese Youth Center/Din Daeng yesterday which resulted in deaths and injuries, including the injuries of on-site medical volunteers. In addition, men dressed in police uniforms demolished medical volunteer vehicles by using excessive force in violation of international red cross practices. Violence from any party must be condemned; not only does it result in injury to civilians and law enforcement officials, it serves to further provoke and intensify current anti-government sentiments.

ตามที่ปรากฏเหตุการณ์เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจภายใต้รัฐบาลรักษาการของนางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตรได้ใช้ความรุนแรงโดยการระดมยิงแก๊สน้ำตาและกระสุนปืนต่อประชาชนผู้บริสุทธิ์ที่เดินทางไปคัดค้านการจับสลากเลือกตั้งที่สนามกีฬาไทย-ญี่ปุ่นดินแดง เมื่อวันที่ 26 ธ.ค. 2556 ทำให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอีกทั้งได้รับบาดเจ็บจำนวนมาก และทำให้แพทย์ พยาบาลอาสา เจ้าหน้าที่จากหน่วยกู้ภัย และสื่อมวลชนได้รับบาดเจ็บร่วมด้วย นอกจากนี้ยังมีบุคคลที่แต่งเครื่องแบบเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจทำลายทรัพย์สินของผู้มาชุมนุมโดยพลการ เช่น รถยนต์ของแพทย์พยาบาลอาสาที่เข้าไปช่วยเหลือให้การรักษาพยาบาลผู้บาดเจ็บจากการชุมนุม เบื้องต้น นับว่าเป็นการกระทำที่รุนแรงเกินกว่าเหตุ ไร้มนุษยธรรมและปราศจากจิตสำนึกต่อความเป็นพี่น้องร่วมชาติ อีกทั้งเป็นการปฏิบัติที่ขัดต่อหลักกาชาดสากล
เครือข่ายแพทย์และบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ 9 สถาบัน ซึ่งประกอบด้วยแพทย์และบุคลากรทาง การแพทย์ จาก จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล(ศิริราชและรามาธิบดี) มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ มหาวิทยาลัยวลัยลักษณ์ เครือข่ายแพทย์ชนบท และ กลุ่มแพทย์อาสาอิสระ ขอแสดงความเสียใจต่อเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นและ ขอประนามต่อการกระทำที่รุนแรงไม่ว่าจะเกิดจากฝ่ายใด ซึ่งนอกจากจะเป็นการทำร้ายประชาชนและเจ้าหน้าที่แล้ว ยังจะเป็นการยั่วยุให้เกิดการประท้วงและต่อต้านรัฐบาลที่รุนแรงยิ่งขึ้น
เครือข่ายฯ จึงขอแสดงเจตนารมณ์ร่วมกันและเรียกร้องต่อรัฐบาลดังนี้
1. ขอให้รัฐบาล เจ้าหน้าที่ที่เกี่ยวข้อง และทุกฝ่ายยุติการใช้ความรุนแรงทุกรูปแบบ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งต่อประชาชนผู้ออกมาชุมนุมและเรียกร้องสิทธิเสรีภาพอย่างบริสุทธิ์ตามบทบัญญัติรัฐธรรมนูญ
2. ขอให้รัฐบาลและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องค้นหาความจริงเพื่อดำเนินคดีแก่ผู้กระทำความผิดในการประทุษร้ายต่อชีวิตและทรัพย์สินของประชาชนและเจ้าหน้าที่ในเหตุการณ์ครั้งนี้
3. ขอให้รัฐบาลและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องให้ความคุ้มครอง รักษาความปลอดภัยอย่างเต็มที่แก่ผู้มาชุมนุมโดยบริสุทธิ์ ตามสิทธิของพลเมือง บุคลากรทางการแพทย์ที่อาสามาช่วยดูแลผู้ชุมนุมและสื่อสารมวลชน
4. ขอให้รัฐบาลยกเลิกกำหนดการเลือกตั้งในวันที่ 2 ก.พ. 2557 เนื่องจากจะเป็นมูลเหตุสำคัญที่ทำให้มีมวลมหาประชาชนออกมาต่อต้านรัฐบาล และก่อให้ให้เกิดเหตุการณ์ความไม่สงบที่อาจลุกลามบานปลาย
5. ให้ดำเนินการปฏิรูปประเทศอย่างเป็นรูปธรรมและทุกภาคส่วนมีส่วนร่วม หลังจากมีการปฏิรูปประเทศแล้ว จึงกำหนดให้มีการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปตามกติกาใหม่อย่างบริสุทธิ์ยุติธรรม
6. เครือข่ายฯ ยังคงยืนหยัดในเจตนารมณ์เดิมคือ ขอเรียกร้องให้นายกรัฐมนตรีและคณะรัฐมนตรีลาออกจากการรักษาการโดยทันที เพื่อให้เกิดความเป็นกลางในการปฏิรูปประเทศ

BANGKOK, Dec 27 – Thailand’s police chief today stood firm that police did not use live ammunition in yesterday’s crackdown on anti-government protesters at the Thai-Japanese stadium.

Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said police strictly followed required steps in dealing with the protesters, starting with a warning before firing tear gas.
He refused to answer when asked if police fired rubber and live bullets at the opposite side but insisted that they adhered to crowed-control procedures and would not open fire if the registration venue was not intruded.
Regarding a video clip showing policemen hitting a protesters’ vehicle, he said police would urgently investigate the cases. He would not commit to when the probe would be finished.
Asked about the diminishing image of the Thai police, Pol Gen Adul said police are obliged to strictly adhere to the law and perform their duties with patience.
He said police nationwide were ordered to maintain public order when constituency candidates start their registrations for the February 2 general elections tomorrow. The registrations will be held nationwide through January 1.
He confirmed that one police officer was killed and 34 others were injured in yesterday’s clash at the Thai-Japanese stadium.
Deputy National Police Chief Worapong Chiewpreecha insisted that police used only tear gas and rubber bullets and followed international standards in dealing with protesters yesterday. (MCOT online news)
On 26 Dec. 2013, anti-government protesters at the Thai-Japanese Youth Center/Din Daeng were joined by Pol.Col. Triwithya Sriprapha, Deputy Commander of Trang province. Like several others, he was injured by rubber bullets and tear gas.

Wasu Suchantabut, an anti-government protester, died earlier today after being shot in the torso during yesterday’s events at the Thai-Japanese Youth Center/Din Daeng. He was hit by a small bullet that passed through his stomach and out his backside, puncturing his lung, vital organs, and a major artery. He was 30 years old.Wasu had previously joined the protests several times and his father is a policeman in Pattani province. Yesterday he delivered drinking water to the Din Daeng protesters. He was hit in the torso by a metal bullet that punctured his lung. We thank all of you who lined up to donate blood for him.
The PDRC would like to convey our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Wasu Suchantabut, and to all of those affected by police violence and the events at Din Daeng yesterday, including the family of Pol Sr Sgt Maj Narong Pitisith who passed away yesterday.
The PDRC will be holding a memorial for Wasu at 19.00 hours tonight on Ratchadamnoen stage.
