Press Release

1. The important motion calling for the six-party talks submitted by Amyotha Hluttaw Representative of the Union Solidarity and Development Party U Myint Tun of Constituency No 10 of Bago Region was approved by the 11th Regular Session of the First Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on 25 November 2014.

2. Concerning the motion, opinions are divided among political parties and the public and the media are presenting the different opinions.

3. Expressing different opinions is to be welcomed in a democratic society. However, it was found that some responsible persons from some political parties expressed their opinions by quoting the words that the president had not said as if they had been said by the president or used words that personally attacked other people who have different opinions from them.

4. As efforts are being made for national reconciliation nowadays, it is necessary for political parties to confirm with news sources before expressing their opinions and to respect the rights and dignity of other people and organizations.
