The person who tattooed Buddha images on his legs is ‘Jason Scott Polley’ and is an assistant professor from Hong Kong Baptist University. He did his religious studies at University of Lethbridge and English literature at McGill University.
Buddha tattoos on the legs – completely outrageous! He is reported to be Canadian and in the process of being kicked out of the country after these tattoos were found on his legs in Shan State of Burma.

He was escorted off for his own safety reason to leave the country

A delegation from Myanmar is expected to arrive in Canada in the next few weeks

A delegation from Myanmar is expected to arrive in Canada in the next few weeks, on the heels of a draft report that suggests parliamentarians from the country want to learn about Canada’s “parliamentary oversight over the spending of public funds.”

The visit will be in response to the multi-party Canadian delegation to Myanmar, also known as Burma, from Feb. 16 to 22, Than Htwe, a counsellor at the embassy of Myanmar, said in an interview.

The delegation is expected on April 22, Mr. Htwe said, although another observer said visa issues could delay that date.

Embassy has also obtained a draft copy of the report outlining the results of the Canadian delegation. It recommends the reciprocal delegation, as well as for Prime Minister Stephen Harper to travel to the country, and that the Canadian embassy presence in the country should focus more on strengthening democratic institutions, among other recommendations.

The report also outlines “key areas of interest” that parliamentarians from Myanmar expressed about Canadian parliamentary democracy, including “Parliamentary oversight over the spending of public funds: the role of the public accounts committee and the auditor general.”

The delegation to Canada will also follow in the footsteps of Canada’s recent diplomatic courting of the Southeast Asian nation. The government announced Canada’s new ambassador to Myanmar on March 29, Mark McDowell, and is also promising a first-ever embassy that would be opened “in the coming months.”  Continue reading “A delegation from Myanmar is expected to arrive in Canada in the next few weeks”

INDONESIA : Rohingya (BENGALI) RALLIED AT THE UNHCR OFFICE MEDAN,N.SUMATRA

22 MARCH 2013

Hundreds of Rohingya Muslims rallied at the representative office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday,

The refugees from Myanmar asked the UNHCR to send them from their accommodations in Indonesia to other nations.

A spokesman for the asylum seekers, Sayed Husein, said that the Rohingya had been living in a shelter in the North Sumatran capital for four years and had each received a monthly stipend of Rp 1.25 million (US$138) from the UNHCR for living expenses.

“Everything has been adequate during our stay here, but we actually wish to seek for a better future,” Sayed said.

“We won’t have a future if we continuously take shelter here. We only ask for help so that we can immediately be sent to third countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US.”

Police were on hand to provide security during the rally.

The protesters could not meet UNHCR officials, who were at an off-site activity in nearby Belawan.

According to official reports, the number of Rohingya refugees currently living in Medan is 300.

The refugees, including several children, have been housed in several locations in the city, such as at the Hotel Pelangi and Asrama Pasar III on Jl. Bunga Kenanga.

Speaking to The Jakarta Post on the telephone, Ardhi, a representative of the local representative office of the UNHCR, said officials would listen to the refugees’ demands and visit them at their accommodations soon.

Burma-Bangladesh : “Fake Rohingyas” entering Western countries

While Bangladesh government has been refusing international plea of giving shelter to the “Rohingyas”, hundreds of Bangladeshi national are entering various Western countries and later proclaiming to be “Rohingyas” by producing fake certificates, which are sold to Bangladeshi nationals through an inter-country crime racket based in Akaran state. Weekly Blitz has already received specific evidence of such cases, where Bangladeshi nationals, who had been residing at their ancestral property in Dhaka and Tangail entered France with Bangladeshi passport and submitted application seeking political asylum by showing fake certificates issued by the local groups or NGOs in Arakan state. It was also learnt that, each of such fake certificates are sold in the black market for Bangladesh Taka 20,000-25,000 [US$ 250-275]. Any Bangladeshi national willing to obtain such fake certificate needs to contact local brokers of Arakan based NGOs in Cox’s Bazar district in Bangladesh and the fake certificate is handed over to the person within 10-15 hours in most cases. In recent months, the number of political asylums sought by “Rohingyas” in various Western nations has greatly increased. It may be mentioned here that, almost 99 percent of such applicants are falsely claiming to be “Rohingyas”.
It may be mentioned here that, as of 2012, 800,000 Bengali so called Rohingya live in Myanmar. Burmese historians such as Khin Maung Saw have claimed that the term ‘Rohingya’ was unknown before the 1950s. Another historian, Dr Maung Maung, notes that the word Rohingya is not used in the 1824 census, conducted by the British. Historian Aye Chan from Kanda University of International Studies states that the term “Rohingya” was created by descendants of Bengalis in 1950s who migrated into Arakan during colonial times. He also holds that the term cannot be found in any historical source in any language before the 1950s. However, he accepts that there may have been Muslim communities in Arakan before 1824.

Three fake Rohingyas traced seeking asylum in Germany

Following publication of the report titled ‘Fake Rohingyas entering Western countries’ in Blitz, we have been receiving specific information from various sources from a number of Western countries, where Bangladeshi nationals have already sought political asylum pretending to be Ronhigyas born in Arakan. According to our sources, only during 2011-2012, a few thousand Bengali fake Rohingyas already sought political asylum only in the European nations, while a significant number of so-called Rohingyas are also reportedly seeking asylum in Canada.

Alert :Canadian Friends Of Burma(CFOB) in Crisis with Rohingya Issue Action Alert – Nov. 5, 2012

Dear Friends,

Please see the following letter of Ko Tin Maung Htoo, Executive Director of Canadian Friends of Burma. CFOB is in Crisis with Rohingya Issue. Because Ko Tin Maung Htoo led Canadian Friends of Burma is not taking side with so-called Rohingya Benagli, Inter Pares is bullying him and CFOB.

Since Ottawa-based Inter Pares, a key member NGO of CNC, consistently put pressure on CFOB to stand with ‘Rohingya’ Muslim, to the extent that they cut off their funding and even blocked the funding coming from other sources.

This is totally disgustingly shameful BULLYING and DICTATORIAL TATICS of Inter Pares.

Let’s show our support for hero of Burma– Ko Tin Maung Htoo and Canadian Frriends of Burma.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) would like to express our stand very clearly here that CFOB is truly the Canadian (TRUE) Friends of Burma and we would like to express our appreciation over your hard work, dedication, devotion and determination for revealing truth, working to bring about justice and to restore human rights in Burma.

Please see the original letter athttp://cfob.org/news/CFOBinCrisisWithRohingya.html

Letter stated as follow:

CFOB in Crisis with Rohingya Issue

Action Alert – Nov. 5, 2012

By Tin Maung Htoo, Executive Director, Canadian Friends of Burma

After hesitation for months, I’ve now decided to inform our network that Canadian Friends of Burma (CFOB) working in support of democracy and human rights in Burma since 1990, has been going through a crisis, especially under enormous pressure to side with ‘Rohingya’ Muslim in ongoing conflict with local Buddhist Rakhine community in Burma. The pressure is up to a point that CFOB was forcefully suspended from a group of NGOs – Canadian NGOs Committee on Burma (CNC).

In particular, Ottawa-based Inter Pares, a key member NGO of CNC, consistently put pressure on CFOB to stand with ‘Rohingya’ Muslim, to the extent that they cut off their funding and even blocked the funding coming from other sources.

Apparently, this is the act to terminate our work for Burma. CFOB is an independent organization and we are not in no way subordinate to any organization. CFOB stands for human rights for everyone, but we don’t want to be seen siding with any group in the conflict. Inter Pares does not seem to understand this point and put enormous pressure to amend our position. We see this as interference in the internal affairs of an independent organization’s policy-making process.

On one hand, we are aware that Inter Pares is using Canadian taxpayers’ money from CIDA to support Rohingya media and advocacy groups such as Kalandan Press and Arakan Project with 5% of a total CIDA funding each year. These organizations are indeed responsible for sending out false news and exaggerated information to the outside world. It appears that Inter Pares wants CFOB to be part of this wrongly guided campaign. That is something we can not accept and will not accept at any cost.

For this mounting pressure, Inter Pares also seems to have worked closely with Burma Campaign UK (BUCK) that has cozy relationships with many Rohingya Muslim elements in UK and Arab world. And Inter Pares blames CFOB for not being able to work with them. Of course, we work with organizations that are pragmatic, but not with radical elements under the banner of so-called human rights.

In fact, CFOB helped secure Inter Pares almost $30 million for Burma border projects since the beginning of funding from the government aid agency, CIDA. CFOB was indeed the platform and the springboard for the funding from CIDA.

The latest successful effort was the continuation of the funding from 2010 to 2015 with $3 million each year. CFOB lunched a nation-wide campaign with the support of Burmese communities across Canada in beseeching Prime Minister Stephen Harper to make sure of this funding for Burma. However, Inter Pares does not seem to appreciate our effort and is continuously using unethical and ambitrary act to disrupt our work.

Their action is a contradiction to what they call themselves as social justice and human rights organization in Canada and their intent is thus questionable. If continued, it would definitely tarnish the image of Canada in the eyes of thousands of Burmese-Canadians and 60 millions of Burmese people.

Therefore, I would request you to directly ask Inter Pares’ Board of Directors to review its management’s tactic in solving the difference with CFOB. Please see their Board of Directors and management team a http://www.interpares.ca/en/who/staff.php

I will also take other necessary actions to save the existence of CFOB from all these destructive acts and keep the operation running as much as it can.
