The rally came in response to news that a group of local Muslims had purchased a plot of land in Nam Kaen subdistrict, where they said they intended to build a house of worship. Advertisement Buddhists gather at Phra That Chae Haeng Temple to protest the construction of a mosque in Nan province, 1 March 2015. NORTH THAILAND BUDDHIST PROTEST After gathering in front of Phra That Chae Haeng Temple yesterday, more than 1,o00 white-clad protesters, who were joined by Buddhist monks and novices, marched to Nan City Hall and submitted a letter urging the provincial government to halt the mosque project. The letter insisted that opposition to the mosque was not motivated by “religious persecution,” but rather dissatisfaction with the lack of transparency and public consultation over the project. The letter also cited other concerns, such as “noise pollution,” “differences in lifestyle and culture” between Buddhists and Muslims, and possible “unrest and violence” that could follow the construction of the mosque. One banner held up by a demonstrator yesterday said: “If Muslims want a land of peace, they must go and make the 3 southern border provinces peaceful first,” a reference to Thailand’s Muslim-majority Deep South, where Islamic militants have been battling security forces since 2004 in an effort to secede from the nation. According to a representative from the Muslim group in Nan, the nearest mosque is 130km away in a neighboring province. “It’s not convenient for us to travel, and it’s dangerous, because some people have to travel by motorcycles, so I think there should be a mosque as a community center for Muslim brothers and sisters,” Imaam Yarin was quoted as saying by Thai Rath newspaper. “Furthermore, tourists from neighboring provinces, including foreigners and individuals who are Muslim, can visit the mosque. It will lead to more spending in the region.” Yet a Facebook page that helped organize yesterday’s demonstration, called “Nan Residents Against Mosque,” cast the construction project as a direct assault on Buddhism. “The religion of Buddha has been bullied enough. The last stronghold of Buddha’s religion in Thailand is the city of Nan,” read a post that urged others to join the protest. “Our ancestors have established Buddha’s religion in this land of Dharma. The children of Nan must defend it. Do not let others trample on it.” http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1425282802&typecate=06&section=

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The man believed to be the mastermind behind the brutal killings of Myanmar nationals has been described by a neighbour as looking like the main character of Sivaji The Boss, a Tamil blockbuster.

Anwar, an Indonesian, said the tenant of the “slaughterhouse”, also a Myanmar, wore sunglasses most of the time.

“He has long hair and would sometimes dress up like Indian actor Rajinikanth, who plays the main character in the movie,” he said outside his house in Kampung Pisang, Machang Bubok, yesterday.

However, Anwar, who has been living in the area for eight years, said he did not know the man nor his occupation.

“He kept mostly to himself. He only moved into the house with a woman, who could be his wife, recently,” said the 41-year-old.

“He’s always dressed neatly and is also quite courteous. He would smile at me and my friends whenever he walks by but never speaks to us,” he said.

The construction worker added that the man also prayed at the same mosque every Friday.

“He doesn’t look menacing. We’re really surprised to find out that his home was used as a place to chop up people,” said Anwar.

Noorshah Siti Hazariah Awang said she heard police knocking on her neighbour’s door early Monday morning.

“At that time, we didn’t know what the case was all about,” said the 37-year-old.

“The policemen only said kes berat (serious case). And then I saw the policemen escorting a man into the police car,” she said.

“I never thought that murders could have happened in the house next door to mine as I’ve never heard any screams or suspicious noises,” Noorshah added.

However, Noorshah added that there were always many people at the house.

“There were usually more than four,” she said, adding that there were two women living there. Continue reading “#MALAYSIA #mastermind #brutal #killings of #Myanmar #BUDDHISTS #LOOKLIKE #FILMSTAR”

Dear Media around the world.
Please ask Mr. Somyod the following Questions:
1. Why did he pick a “Rohingya” muslims translator for Rakhine suspects?

2. Why did the police pick a Roti Street Vendor as an official translator translator? Was he trying to save some Thai tax payers’ money?

MAYBE YOU ALL READ ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WE CALL THEM “BENGALI” (ROHINGYA) WITH BUDDHISTS FROM RAKHINE ARAKAN STATE.

ANOTHER POINT IS THAT OUR EMBASSY OFFICIALS FEEL “SATISFIED” WITH THAI OFFICILAS EXPLANATION! THEY NEVER TOOK CARE OF THE PEOPLE.

#THAISOUTH #Five #policemen were #injured by a #bomb #explosion #Narathiwat province

Five policemen were injured by a bomb explosion as they were pickup leaflets strewn on the road not far away from a school in Waeng district of Narathiwat province Tuesday afternoon.
The leaflets were intentionally dropped on the road about 20 metres from Wiangsuwan Witthayakhom in Tambon Waeng to attract the attention of the police.

A group of policemen travelling in a pickup truck and a motorbike saw the leaflets and stopped to investigate. As they were picking up the leaflets, suspected insurgents who were hiding nearby detonated a 25-kg improvised explosive device buried under the road with a radio transmitter.

The powerful blast injured five policemen. They were later rushed to the hospital by their uninjured colleages.

Written in Thai, the leaflets contain a message from the separatists which said that the fourth region of Internal Security Operations Command still resorts to their old means by killing off the suspects. “So long as the Siamese colonialists continue to kill the innocent Malay Muslims, the Buddhists no matter whether they are teachers or not will face the same fate,” according to the statement in the leaflets.

Singapore has two marital legislations such as Muslim Law Act and Women’s Charter. It bans a marriage between a Muslim and a non-Muslim. A non-Muslim woman is required to attend one-year religious conversion training before becoming a Muslim wife. Official interviewers are obliged to ask a Muslim man whether he is able to guide his bride-to-be on the path of becoming a Muslim wife. ? NO OUTCRY FROM HRW AND OTHERS ???

 WOMAN TEACHER KILLED
TODAY 17.00 ANOTHER FEMALE TAECHER WAS SHOT TODAY TAK BAI
PATTANI, March 20 -The governor of Pattani said security agencies will adjust their plans to provide better protection for educators in violence-plagued Pattani province during the rest of the school term.
A security meeting on Thursday led by Pattani Governor Wittaya Panichpong with Pol Maj Gen Pote Suaysuwan and other officials resolved to tighten security measures for the safety of the teachers and school personnel who must still work during summer school vacation from March through April.
The decision followed the latest attack which killed Siripohn Srichai, a teacher at Tabingtingi School in Mayo district of Pattani province. Ms Siripohn was shot to death and her body was burnt last Friday while she rode a motorcycle to her workplace.
According to the governor, four teachers were killed and five wounded in seven violent attacks on teachers and education workers in the restive south last year, while there has been one dead since the beginning of 2014.
The measures for better protection will be implemented in the most violence-prone areas as well as schools located far from military bases, while around-the-clock protection will be provided for teachers in other areas as before. (MCOT )
