One military personnel and two civilians were killed in four bomb explosions believed detonated by militants in Narathiwat’s Ra-ngae district Thursday night.
At least, two other soldiers and one civilian were also injured in the blasts which took place at about 7 pm behind Ra-ngae municipal’s market, behind Wat Singholsittharam, in front of the district’s post office and in front of a karao-ke bar.
A car suspected to be a car bomb was found in front of the district hospital prompting security forces to seal off the area as members of the explosive ordnance disposal team probed the vehicle.
NARATHIWAT, 18 September 2015 (NNT) – Royal Thai Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr has ordered officials in the restive South to raise the level of security after the latest bombing while admitting that the peace dialogue still requires more time.
In the wake of a deadly bomb attack in Ra-ngae district of Narathiwat on Thursday, Gen Udomdej pointed out that the incident was another attempt of the insurgent network to incite fear among local residents. He affirmed that authorities have managed to keep the situation under control and will now work harder to ensure maximum safety for everyone. Special attention is being given as insurgent violence often occurred around the end of the fiscal year in the past.
Despite the latest incident, the Army Chief insisted that the number of attacks has decreased from last year. As for the government’s peace talks with various insurgent groups, he revealed that more time needs to be allowed for the process since no concrete agreements have been reached so far.
Gen Udomdej pleaded with all unrest instigators to put aside their separatist ideology and turn to cooperate with the government in developing the nation for the happiness of all Thai people.

The combined force of more than 100 police and soldiers found ball bearings of the 0.55 mm size in the search of the foreign suspect’s rented room in Nong Chok. They are similar to ball bearings which the forensic police found at both the Erawan shrine and Sathorn bridge. Earlier in the afternoon, the combined force of over 100 police and soldiers searched Rooms 404, 409, 410, 411, 412 on the fourth floor of an apartment on Soi Chuemsamphan in Nong Chok district rented by Ahemet Mehmmet Emin Ayse following tipoff that he might be involved in the bombing. The man rented the rooms since January 27 last year. Found in the search included a shirt tainted with explosive substances, ball bearings in plastic packages, several sizes of square and round batteries, electrical cords, electric welder, adhesive tapes, screw driver, scissor, a plastic tank with chemicals, box of sodium carbonate, several sizes of metal pipes with covers, sticky tape and ignition fuses. Southern insurgents stepped up violent campaign with the torching of a local health station, local administrative office, surveillance cameras, shooting Buddhists, and putting up banners opposing the peace dialogue effort by the military regime.
Unrest incidents were reported in Pattani, Narathiwatnand Songkhla provinces.
Security officials said Monday southern insurgents in Narathiwat cut down trees to block roads in Rueso district, and set fire to a health office in Tambon Sawor.
But village headman and defence volunteers managed to put out the fire before it raged.
A roadside bomb was also detonated on the road from Waeng to Sungai Kolok near a bridge while a patrol unit passed by.
Nobody was injured in the explosion.
Meanwhile security officials reported banners were put up at eleven locations in Khok Pho, Panare, Yarang, Yaring, Nong Chik, and Kapor districts.

Army Ranger wounded in insurgent bomb ambush on patrol duty in Pattani’s Yarang district
UPDATE 4 BOMBS -1 KILLED 18 YEARS
–Several people were injured when three bombs exploded at three shops in Pattani town at 7.00 pm.
Hit by bombs are Sairung Karoke, Krua Songkhla, and Maruey shop.
Forensic, EOD, and security officials are sealing off the three places fearing that more bombs could be planted to harm offficials.
