The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) is waiting to see if the military will file an additional charge against Veera Somkwamkid and other activists, saying that they will be released in seven days if no more charges are made.

Deputy CSD Commander Pol Col Prasobchok Prommoon today inspected the detention of Mr Veera and seven other activists who were arrested during their walk campaign for Thai energy reform near the Victory Monument yesterday.

Pol Col Prasopchoke said the judge advocate was investigating the case and collecting evidence.

Initially, the group was considered violating the martial law and an order of the National Council for Peace and Order that banned a political gathering of more than five people.

If the military does not file any additional charges, the Mr Veera and his group will be released within seven days of their detention.

If there are other criminal charges from the military, police will seek permission from the military court to extend their detention.

A narcotics police officer in Chiang Mai was dismissed from the services today pending an investigation after he was arrested while attempting to smuggle 800,000 methamphetamine tablets and one kilogramme of Ice from Chiang Rai province to Bangkok.
Pol Lt-Col Chamnan Poongpaichit, deputy superintendent of Chakprakarn police in Chiang Mai, was held in custody after police manning a checkpoint in Huey Kai, Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai found the drugs in a luggage on the Toyota Fortuner in which he was driving.

Chamnan reported admitted that he agreed to deliver the drugs worth about 164 million baht to a customer in Bangkok in exchange for three million baht service fees. He also told his police interrogators that he badly in need of money to repay his three million baht in debts with the police cooperatives and for two houses he bought on high purchase.

Pol Lt-Col Chamnan earned the reputation of being a tough drug buster while serving at Sob Prab district police in Lampang. He was also entrusted by his immediate boss at Region 5 Provincial Police Bureau to educate and train young police officers on the tactics of busting drug trafficking.

Thai Police Deputy Commissioner Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, meanwhile, visited Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai to meet police station heads in the area, where he also met with the suspects held for questioning.

Gen Pongsapat said that all of the drugs are connected to drug kingpin Lt Col Yi Se’s drug trafficking syndicate.

He set up a special investigative unit from the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) to help with the case for a quicker probe and results.

Nine passengers of a southern-bound sleeper train were robbed of their smart phones and about 2,500 baht in cash while they fell asleep.
The unusual robbery took place on the 10th car of the second-class air-conditioned sleeper express train from Bangkok bound for Su-ngai Kolok which was one carriage away from the Ladies and Children’s Bogey.

The incident was believed to take place at between 3 am and 6 am on Tuesday as the train was running from Thung Song to Hat Yai.

One of the nine victims, Pathom Pinakun, a paramilitary ranger, told police that he went to bed at about 3 am after having finished his guard duty on the train. He said he woke up at about six in the morning as the training was approaching Hat Yai and found out that his smart phone had gone missing.

Pathom then woke up the other two rangers who also admitted that their smart phones were gone. The three then woke up the other 30 passengers in the same car and discovered that six of them had lost their smart phones too.

Pathom later said he felt unusually sleepy and suspected that he and the other passengers might have been drugged.

A complaint was later filed with the police in Hat Yai and police in Thung Song was also notified of the incident because it was not known where the robbery exactly took place.

Morchit 2 provincial bus terminal at Chatuchak and city bus terminal at Morchit 1 will be relocated to pave the way for the construction of the Red Line electric project.
The relocation was agreed at the meeting hosted by the Transport Ministry.

Participating in the meeting were executives of the State Railway of Thailand, the Transport Company, operator of the provincial bus terminal at Morchit 2, and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) which uses the Morchit 1 as a city bus terminal.

Transport ministry’s permanent secretary Soithip Traisut revealed after the meeting that the Transport company and the BMTA would be moving their provincial bus terminal at Morchit 2 bus and city bus terminal at Morchit 1 to other areas within 2017.

She said the agreement to move the bus terminals would enable the SRT to carry on with its plans to construct the SRT’s Red Line project.

The SRT has planned to turn the terminals into a maintenance station and a parking station for the Red Line trains.

Managing director of the Transport company, Wuthichart Kalayanamit said the new location of the bus terminals would be decided by the end of the year, while the new site must have at least 100 rais of land, where the state company has planned to invest around three billion baht for the construction of the new bus terminals.

A study, meanwhile, showed that the Transport Company is interested in the locations around Don Muang, Muang Thong Thani, and Future Park Rangsit Mall.

เมื่อเวลา 17.00 น. ทหารประสาน ตร.และ EOD ตรวจค้นห้องพักเลขที่ 402/24 ศรีไทยคอนโด 14 แขวงบางมด เขตทุ่งครุ กทม. หลังได้รับแจ้งว่ามีอาวุธสงครามซุกซ่อยอยู่ จากการตรวจสอบห้องพักดังกล่าวไม่มีผู้พักอาศัย เจ้าของห้องพักได้เปิดให้เช่า แต่ขณะตรวจค้นไม่มีผู้ใดอยู่ในห้อง
