NLD denies news report saying it demands to give citizenship to Bengalis
The story of The Independent news agency reported NLD demanded government to give citizenship rights to Bengalis so-called Rohingyas
Opposition party National League for Democracy (NLD) denied that their party didn’t ask the government to give citizenship rights to Bengalis refugees adrift on the sea as reported in UK-based The Independent, said NLD’s spokesperson Nyan Win to the Daily Eleven on May 21.
The Independent newspaper featured a story on May 19 titled “Burma’s opposition demands government gives citizenship to Rohingya refugees adrift on the Andaman Sea”.
Nyan Win said the paper asked his view about the Bengalis and he said about it in his own opinion. And he said he didn’t talk about the demand to give citizenship to Bengalis like the title of the story mentioned.
The Independent directly quoted what Nyan Win said in the report. In an interview with The Independent, U Nyan Win said: “The problem needs to be solved by the law. The law needs to be amended. After one or two generations [of residence] they should have the right to be citizens.”
He said, “It is right that I said those words but what I said is the government should amend the 1982 Citizenship Law into the conditions which everyone can accept.”
He continued that he didn’t demand the government to accept Bengalis who are drifted on the sea as citizens.
UN Human Rights Committee once urged Myanmar government to recognize Bengalis as citizens and Nyan Win then said he didn’t accept the issue.
“I can understand that a human being should be entitled to be a citizen in accord with law but I can’t accept the term “Rohingya”. The term “Rohingya” does not existed in the history of Myanmar. If they use Rohingya, I don’t accept,” said Nyan Win at that time.
Does Aung San Suu Kyi – notoriously reticent on the Rohingya issue – share her party’s spokesman’s views about their right to citizenship? “I don’t know,” he said, read the Independent’s story. Continue reading “#BURMA #NLD #No #citizenship to #Bengalis”

Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shebab militants condemn Myanmar’s “savage Buddhists” and urged Southeast Asia’s Muslims to come to the aid of Rohingya Muslim boatpeople
“Welcome them, open your hearts to them before you open your homes and give shelter to the fleeing Muslims. Mobilise men, money and resources to defend the honour of the persecuted Muslims and repel the savage attacks of the polytheists,” the Shebab said. Rohingya where did they come from?
===========================
British brought those Bengali (same Rohingya) long time ago to fight Burmese soldiers in Colonial era , some for workers and to work at farms, they many they don’t leave and remained when British left, After Burma Independent more illegal Rohingya kept on coming in by crossing border.
Two parts different:
*********************
1. stayed till before Independent 1948 all are entitled to be citizens regardless of their any religions.
2. but after 1948 illegal entered not entitle the citizenship.
Otherwise UK has responsible for to take them all into UK due to they brought them a lot in Burma if they are stateless and no citizens of a country.
Illegal entered with no data record will not entitle citizenship no matter how long they stayed in Myanmar after 1948 independent.
*Rohingyas = Bengali are just same same with different names, you can test by medical checkup to verify matching types of those ethnic race people.
Great Wall Idea: China had built great wall to protect their own and i guess if Myanmar have long and high Great Wall even can drive patrol car above too between along Myanmar and Bangladesh border then could have reduced such illegal border crossing entry , then they ride boats and claimed they were from Myanmar…
Bangladesh can’t stop Birth rates a lot and Myanmar doesn’t want to take Bangalars a lot too. Given citizenship is NOT a solution because they keep on coming more.
Australia can track boats coming into their water territories to tow back boats where they came from but Myanmar doesn’t have enough technology yet to track in open Ocean even though those boats crossed from southern Myanmar Indian Ocean, China may be only hope that can provide tech and satellite. “Rohingya” #Bengali #Muslims will #not be #able to #vote in #Myanmar’s #referendum
“Rohingya” Bengali Muslims will not be able to vote in Myanmar’s referendum after President Thein Sein withdrew temporary voting rights following protests.
Hundreds of people demonstrated in Yangon Myanmar’s biggest city on Wednesday to protest a government decision to allow people without full citizenship including members of the Bengail,”Rohingya” minority to vote in an upcoming constitutional referendum.
Most Muslim Bengali “Rohingya” are not citizens and prejudice against them is high in the predominantly Buddhist nation. The temporary identification cards popularly called ‘white cards’ were created by the former military regime for the 2010 elections in which it relinquished power to a nominally civilian government though under heavy army influence. An army-backed political party won seats in areas with sizable numbers of white card holders.’White card holders are not citizens and those who are non-citizens don’t have the right to vote in other countries. This is just a ploy by politicians to win votes’ said Buddhist monk Shin Thumana.
