They will not be allowed to return to Cambodia for four years. Lindsey and Leslie  Adams will be deported on Sunday morning, according to the court’s decision. Cambodian authorities detained the two American tourists soon after they were found taking photos of their partly naked backsides on Friday morning. The Apsara Authority, which oversees all temples in Siem Reap including Angkor Wat temple, said in its statement that “after being questioned over this case, the two tourists had confessed and recognised that they made a mistake by taking naked back photos”. It is the second incident in less than 10 days, after the authority arrested three French male tourists for taking nude photos at another temple complex of Banteay Kdey. Apsara Authority spokeswoman Chau Sun Kerya said the women’s actions were offensive towards Cambodian culture and were inappropriate at such a sacred site.

Hundreds of undocumented Myanmar migrant workers in nine townships of Tak province and Mae Sot are fleeing to Myawaddy of Myanmar after the Thai police launched a crackdown early this month. “Many workers are being arrested by the Thai police. I fled from the factory to Myawaddy when the police raided other factories. Our factory owner helped as flee,” said a worker. “The crackdown on Myanmar workers started on 1 Feb. So far, the Thai police have detained about 600 Myanmar migrant workers,” said Moe Gyo, general-secretary of Myanmar Migrant Worker Rights Network and chair of the Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs. Over 100 undocumented Myanmar migrant workers and three factory owners from Mae Sot were arrested. An article on white-card holders’ voting rights written by advocate Ko Ni, a member of the central legal support committee for the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) and the central committee for constitutional amendments, did not represent the party, said Nyan Win, an NLD spokesman.
The article on temporary identity certificate holders, arguing that they should have a legal right to vote if their papers had been issued correctly, appeared in the Voice Weekly on February 7.
“His article did not represent the NLD. He is a legal expert. His opinions were expressed in his article. He did not represent the legal outlook of the NLD. He responded to the government’s decision to grant voting rights to white-card holders from his legal point of view. It is his own opinion,” Nyan Win said.
The article stated that the laws relating to the registration of citizens and the definition of white-card holders dated back to independence in 1948. The aim of issuing a certificate was to prove identify, Ko Ni wrote. An undocumented person could lose their rights.
People were issued a temporary identity certificate before being recognised as citizens. Ko Ni said temporary identity holders could be allowed to vote if the procedures had been followed correctly.
Issuing out a temporary identity certificate must be in conformity with the law, he said. Therefore, there was no reason to end the voting rights of the white-card holders, the article said.
