The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested an explosives expert in Hyderabad, who is believed to be a Myanmar national, in connection with its probe into the October 2 Burdwan blast and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terror conspiracy.
According to the NIA, 28-year-old Khaleed alias Khalid Mohammed is a trained IED explosive expert and has links with Bangladesh-based terrorist groups. Khalid, who is believed to hail from Myanmar’s Rakhine state, is reportedly associated with the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation — set up in the early 1980s to fight for citizenship and rights for the minority Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

He is alleged to be involved inrunning terror camps in bordering areas of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Officials said incriminating videos of training material, literature relating to poisons, IED making, bomb making, explosives and jihad were found from his possession.
The seized documents also allegedly include jihadi literature pertaining to the Islamic State.
NIA sources said that Khalid has admitted to having undergone terror training conducted by the Tehreek-e-Azadi-Arakan with trainers from Tehreek-e-Taliban-Pakistan. He was residing in Hyderabad from October 2012 and managed to procure fake identity documents, the NIA alleged, adding that he did not have valid travel documents.
