KULAIJAYA: Four “Myanmar “nationals were charged in a magistrate’s court here with murdering their countryman, whose body parts were found packed in several plastic bags and dumped by a highway here.
The charge was read out in Bahasa Malaysia to Myo Myint, -Mohd Hassan Ali, Shaib Othman and Haji Ismail.-
However, Shaib Othman and Haji Ismail could not understand the charge.
Magistrate Ahmad Farid Ahmad Kamal then set Sept 24 for next mention and asked for a Myanmar interpreter to be present in court.
The four men were accused of murdering another Myanmar national, known only as Kothet, bet-ween 9pm on July 29 and 11.20am on Aug 1.
It was reported that highway officials discovered the body parts of the victim, which were packed in black plastic bags and thrown by the side of the North-South Expressway near KM21 heading south on Aug 1.
In a separate case, a bus driver was fined RM5,000 for driving in a reckless manner resulting in an accident 10 years ago.
Ismail Ahmad, 33, pleaded guilty to the offence, which occurred at around 12.40am along KM39.9 of the North-South Expressway heading south on Dec 26, 2004.
During the incident, Ismail had swerved his bus and rammed into the metal divider on the road. Another vehicle then hit the bus.
The accident claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl.
Magistrate Ahmad Farid fined Ismail RM5,000 for the offence and sentenced him to four months imprisonment if he failed to settle the fine.
He also ordered for an official record to be included in Ismail’s driving records on the accident.
