Three insurgent ringleaders nabbed in Pattani
14 August 2014 (NNT) – The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has announced an arrest of three leading members of the insurgent network in Thailand’s Deep South while encouraging others to surrender themselves.
Col Pramote Phrom-in, Spokesperson of ISOC Region 4 Forward Command, stated that a joint security force had successfully apprehended three suspected assailants in Sai Buri district of the southernmost province of Pattani. They were alleged to have played commanding roles in the separatist movement and to have been involved in a number of bomb attacks and street shootings in the region.
The authorities confiscated two rifles and three handguns, along with a large amount of ammunition. Moreover, they also found two gas cylinders and other explosive components as well as two motorcycles with fake license plates.
Col Pramote said the operation was conducted under the instruction of the National Council for Peace and Order and in accordance with the standard procedure, leaving behind no casualties. He asserted that all of the three perpetrators will be treated with fairness in the legal process.
