Five Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have died after a rain-triggered mudslide hits Jeyang IDP camp on Tuesday at 6:40 am. Jeyang IDP camp is located near KIO administrative capital Laiza.

The bodies of Lahtaw Bawk Wai (Aged 35), Jangmaw Naw Lat (Aged 4), Mahaw Roi (Aged 56), Lahkang La Tawng (Aged 15) and Lahkang Tu Ring (Aged 13) have been recovered from the debris of mudslide by KIO personnel and fellow IDPs at about 8 am.

Local sources said those killed are from two families, and they were having a morning meal when the deadly mudslide hit IDP camp.

Police in the border town of Maw Taung, Tanintharyi Region, have begun arresting “agents” who help migrant workers cross into Thailand illegally.
Fifteen people have been arrested since the beginning of the month at the border trade post opposite the town of Singkhon in Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan province, police said.
“We have been arresting those who attempt to enter Thailand illegally or send people there illegally since the beginning of July,” said Nay Myo Lat, an inspector at Maw Taung Police Station. He said those arrested had been working with Maw Taung residents to help migrants cross the border illegally.
He did not say how many of those arrested were “agents” or how many were attempting to enter Thailand illegally for work. However, 12 of those arrested hail from Rakhine State where chronic unemployment has sparked an exodus of young men and women in search of work. Two residents of Dawei were also arrested and one Yangon resident was arrested, Nay Myo Lat said.
The border trade post opened on May 8, 2013. According to a statement from the Thai government, there are plans to eventually turn it into an international border crossing. Currently, Myanmar issues temporary passes to those who cross the border, but Thai officials do not recognise their validity and require their holders to return to Myanmar by sunset, police said.
Nay Myo said the 15 suspects arrested face charges under Section 26 of the Law Relating to Overseas Employment. Under this section any unlicenced “agent” found guilty of facilitating overseas employment faces up to seven years in prison and a fine.
Nay Myo Lat also said that some Myanmar workers are crossing the border to work in Prachuap Khiri Khan during the day and returning to Myanmar at night. They live near the border trade post. The illegal migrants hail from other areas of the country and police are now keeping an eye on the border crossing to prevent them from entering Thailand illegally, he said.
Migrant workers from Myanmar are facing tighter restrictions at border crossings following a crackdown in Thailand on undocumented foreign workers by the country’s military, which seized power from a democratically elected government in May. The junta is attempting to register all migrant workers in the country, but migrant worker advocates say the process is not going smoothly. More than 150,000 Cambodians fled Thailand in June following reports of extortion and abuse by Thai police and troops.

What is wrong with this government. Arresting farmers and grabbing lands. Aren’t they ashame of themselves? When i heard the news about arresting more and more farmers and locals, it makes me sick .

พล.ต.ต.จิรสันต์ แก้วแสงเอก ผบก.จร. ขอประชาสัมพันธ์ การจัดการจราจร เพื่อให้ประชาชนผู้ใช้รถใช้ถนนทราบ เนื่องด้วย ระหว่างวันที่ 22 – 27 ก.ค. 2557 คสช. ได้กำหนดจัดงาน “มหกรรมปรองดองสมานฉันท์ คืนความสุขให้คนในชาติ” ณ บริเวณท้องสนามหลวง จึงขอแจ้งปิดการจราจร ดังนี้
1. การปิดการจราจร
– เนื่องจากมีการตั้งเต็นท์เต็มถนน เพื่อจำหน่ายสินค้าใน ถ.หน้าพระธาตุ จึงต้องปิดการจราจรใน ถ.หน้าพระธาตุ ตั้งแต่ ถ.พระจันทร์ตัด ถ.หน้าพระธาตุ แยกพระจันทร์) ถึง ถ.หน้าพระธาตุตัด ถ.หน้าพระลาน

2.1 ถนนหน้าพระธาตุ กำหนดให้เดินรถทางเดียว จาก หน้าพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติไปยังแยกพระจันทร์
2.2 ถนนพระจันทร์ กำหนดให้เดินรถทางเดียว จาก แยกพระจันทร์ไปยังท่าน้ำท่าพระจันทร์

บก.จร. จึงขอประชาสัมพันธ์ให้พี่น้องประชาชนผู้ใช้รถใช้ถนนทราบเพื่อวางแผนการเดินทางให้เกิดความสะดวกและไม่เกิดปัญหาการจราจร จึงขอให้หลีกเลี่ยงเส้นทางดังกล่าวและ หากต้องการสอบถามเส้นทางและสภาพการจราจรเพิ่มเติมหรือ แจ้งอุบัติเหตุจราจร โดยท่านสามารถสอบถามข้อข้อมูลจราจรและแจ้งอุบัติเหตุได้ที่ 1197 ได้ตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง

เมื่อเวลา 13.30 น. ตร.นำนายอภิชาติ หรือ อัคคี พวงเพ็ชร อายุ 42 ปี และนายวรพนธ์ หรือ จง ผลไม้วงษ์ดี อายุ 44 ปี 2 ผู้ต้องหาปาระเบิดใส่ขบวน กปปส. ที่ถนนบรรทัดทองเมื่อ 18 ม.ค.ที่ผ่านมา แถลงข่าวที่กองบัญชาการตำรวจภูธรภาค 1 พร้อมของกลาง 2 รายการ ได้แก่
1. ระเบิด M19 A2 จำนวน 1 ลูก
2. ระเบิดขว้าง RDG5 จำนวน 2 ลูก
โดยผู้ต้องหาให้การรับสารภาพ

การจับกุมนายอภิชาติฯ มาจากการขยายผลจับกุมอาวุธสงคราม พื้นที่ อ.วังน้อย อยุธยา ผู้ต้องหาสารภาพว่าช่วงที่มีการชุมนุมทางการเมืองได้น้ำระเบิด RDG5 จำนวน 20 ลูกแจกจ่ายให้เพื่อนๆ นำไปก่อเหตุในหลายพื้นที่ และนำไปทิ้งในคลองแสนแสบ 2 ลูก ซึ่ง ตร.เตรียมจัดชุดประดาน้ำลงงมค้นหา

ส่วนนายวรพนธ์ ผลไม้วงษ์ดี หรือ จง อายุ 44 ปี จับได้พร้อมของกลาง โดยจับได้ที่กลางท้องนา ต.เกาะจันทร์ กิ่ง อ.เกาะจันทร์ จ.ชลบุรี

BANGKOK, July 22 — The Thai Ministry of Labour and the Myanmar ambassador to Thailand agreed to set up a working group to speed up nationality verification for Myanmar workers in Thailand.

Jirasuk Sugandhajati, Thai permanent secretary for labour and Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Win Maung today discussed the issue of nationality verification.

Mr Jirasuk said if the task is not finished in two months, both sides agree to consider extending the timeframe.

However, Myanmar authorities would divide Myanmar workers in Thailand into two groups — those with complete documents and those without.

This would help Thai authorities to speed up the nationality verification of the migrant workers.

A 10-member working group will be set up to collect information of the migrant workers at their living places because some workers could not complete filling in the forms due to their poor education.

Meanwhile, a labour export association of Myanmar will open more branches to tackle the illegal job brokers question .

Fourth Army chief Lt Gen Walit Rojanapakdi today inspected a one-stop service centre for migrant workers registration in Ranong that began operation today.

About 20,000 migrant workers waited for registration and the facility could serve 600 workers per day. All the workers are Myanmar nationals.

In Krabi province, employers brought a large number of migrant workers to registration at the one-stop service centre at the provincial government complex.

The centre also started operation today. More than 4,300 migrant workers have waited to be registered there and most of them are Myanmar and Cambodian nationals. (MCOT )

Morchit 2 provincial bus terminal at Chatuchak and city bus terminal at Morchit 1 will be relocated to pave the way for the construction of the Red Line electric project.
The relocation was agreed at the meeting hosted by the Transport Ministry.

Participating in the meeting were executives of the State Railway of Thailand, the Transport Company, operator of the provincial bus terminal at Morchit 2, and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) which uses the Morchit 1 as a city bus terminal.

Transport ministry’s permanent secretary Soithip Traisut revealed after the meeting that the Transport company and the BMTA would be moving their provincial bus terminal at Morchit 2 bus and city bus terminal at Morchit 1 to other areas within 2017.

She said the agreement to move the bus terminals would enable the SRT to carry on with its plans to construct the SRT’s Red Line project.

The SRT has planned to turn the terminals into a maintenance station and a parking station for the Red Line trains.

Managing director of the Transport company, Wuthichart Kalayanamit said the new location of the bus terminals would be decided by the end of the year, while the new site must have at least 100 rais of land, where the state company has planned to invest around three billion baht for the construction of the new bus terminals.

A study, meanwhile, showed that the Transport Company is interested in the locations around Don Muang, Muang Thong Thani, and Future Park Rangsit Mall.
