BURMA MYANMAR :BREAKING NEWS-Arakan leaders visiting Malaysia were shot by guns

We are very worried by the news that Burma’s Arakan leaders visiting Malaysia were shot by guns which I believe that it is attempted assassination. Malaysian government must do full, independent and transparent investigation and must bring culprits to justice.

Rakhine Nationalities Development Party chairman, Dr Aye Maung, and Arakan League for Democracy party chairman, Aye Thor Aung, together with two other Myanmar nationals were in a BMW car in Jalan Alor when the shots were fired about 11.30pm.

As the shots went wide, the gunman escaped from the scene in the motorcycle ridden by an accomplice.

Initial police investigations have not ruled out that the duo could be Myanmar nationals.

 

According to a source, the leaders had just left a shopping centre (Plaza Low Yat) when their vehicle was attacked by the two men.

“Following the shooting, the car with Aye Maung sped to a hotel in the capital before a police report was lodged.

“No one was injured in the incident,” the source told Bernama today.

Suthep Thaugsuban (21.05): We all feel for the farmers. They’ve been betrayed, cheated, and threatened. They’ve cried and some have committed suicide. I haven’t gone to visit the farmers for fear that the other side will use my visit as an excuse to tarnish the farmers’ fight to get paid what they are owed as a political action. But I think it’s time for us to visit the rice and see how Yingluck’s sham government is storing it. Are the stocks still in good shape? I suspect there may not be that much rice – they might have stolen it already. So tonight I would like to humbly suggest to our farmer friends to check the rice stocks. When I can, I will go check the stocks with you.

The farmers want to come protest the government directly to get what they are owed, but they don’t even have money for transport. So here’s what we’re going to do to help them: tomorrow, we will march to collect donations for the farmers. We will use our whistles and feet once more to chase the Thaksin regime and demand reform before elections. We will do this twice to help raise funds for the farmers’ fight to collect their dues from this corrupt government. We will march tomorrow and Monday. Let’s aim to raise 10 million baht to assist the farmers’ fight to collect their dues!

gunshot was fired at the government complex in Chaeng Wattana while Phra Buddha Issara was huddled in a meeting with election commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn about giving up an office to the Election Commission.

The gunshot prompted several reporters who were waiting to cover the meeting to rush out to investigate. It was discovered that one rear tyre of a Mitsubishi car belong to a member of People’s Democratic Reform Committee in Pathum Thani was punctured apparently hit by the shot.

There were no police at the scene at the time of the shooting but a group of security guards and soldiers.

It was not known who fired the shot and from where. However, the incident did not affect the discussion between the monk and Mr Somchai.
