The caretaker premier was responded to question by reporter on the rice scheme and the growing pressure by rice farmers for payment.
She said any further action is now dependent on the newly elected government. She said that as a caretaker government, it has limited authority.
She said “it will take time for us to initiate any new scheme as we have to act according to the letter of the law.”
But she said if her party was re-elected the rice scheme would be revised.
She also asked for sympathy for farmers saying “I’d like to implore that the members of the public have empathy for the farmers’ plight. I’d also like for the farmers to understand our position. We are doing our best to fulfill our obligations. We appreciate any comments and welcome any recommendations. We will be more than happy to comply should propose actions that are legally binding.”
BANGKOK, Feb 5 – The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) vowed today to continue their months-long rallies in Thailand’s capital to press for the government’s resignation despite court warrants to
arrest 19 key protesters.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) charged the 19 political activists with defying the Emergency Decree but the PDRC argued that the decree was unlawfully invoked.
Sathit Wongnongtoey, former Democrat MP and a top PDRC leader, said on stage at the Pathumwan rally site that all 19 protesters, including leader Suthep Thaugsuban, would neither stop the demonstrations nor
escape.
He said the group would not surrender to the authorities unless their mission was accomplished.
“We will give ourselves up to the authorities once the prime minister resigns,” he told the cheering crowd.
“An arrest warrant was once issued for Mr Suthep but he insisted he would fight on,” he said, adding that PDRC lawyers would appeal the court’s order.
It was the second arrest warrant for Mr Suthep. Mr Sathit was one of the 19.
The former MP from Trang said protesters have followed the law which has, on the other hand, been exploited by law-enforcement officials, compelling them to intensify their protests.
He said PDRC supporters would continue occupying the Interior Ministry despite an attempt by the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) to reoccupy.
“We will send protesters from the Pathumwan rally site for reinforcement at the Interior Ministry if necessary,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Constitution Court rejected a petition by Pheu Thai member Singthong Buachum who sought the court’s order to stop anti-government protesters from seizing government buildings.
The court said the protesters exercised their rights and freedom on the heels of their demonstrations against the Amnesty Bill and lack of confidence in the government’s administrative performance.
Whether the protesters’ activities violated the Criminal Code or other laws is up to the authorities in charge to take legal action but their activities did not lead to a belief that they aimed at removing the country’s administration, concluded the court. (MCOT online news)

The Nationalities Brotherhood Federation (NBF), an alliance of 20 ethnic political parties, has issued a statement declaring that granting election rights to white card holders ensures an encroachment on national sovereignty.
During its 17th regular meeting, held in the nation’s capital over the weekend, the NBF issued a statement declaring that the rights of setting up political parties, of casting votes, of electing candidates and of being elected should not be extended to white card holders. To do otherwise is to ensure encroachment on sovereignty, the statement said.
“White card holders really have no right to cast votes. They have no chance of voting in most countries in the world. Even in the United States of America, non-citizens have no right to cast a vote,” said NBF spokesperson Sai Saw Than Myint.
“In the United States, green card holders have no right to cast votes [except in some municipalities, which do allow voting at the local level]. We should not accept this, either. When ‘guest’ citizens are given the rights to be candidates, our citizens lose that right. We object to these rights being given to white card holders. To be able to hold free and fair elections, ethnic intellectuals and leaders should sit on the Union Election Commission. Ethnic leaders should be invited to organize the UEC at the different levels. We will continue to report on this point to make it known to the chair of the UEC.”
The plan of taking a census using a code number to classify 135 ethnic groups can cause disunity among ethnic people. It is necessary to negotiate about this matter with ethnic groups, the statement said.
It was learned that white cards were issued to Bengalis in Rakhine State to show support for the 2008 Constitution during the previous military regime. Rakhine State has some 600,000 white card holders.

Thai-Indian Business Association chairman Satish Sehgal says he will seek justice from the court over deportation threat by the Center for the Maintaining of Peace and Order (CMPO) over alleged charge of inciting unrest in the country
Reaction by the prominent and well-known Thai-India businessman came after the CMPO director Chalerm Yubamrungh is asking the National Police Office to begin the deportation process of Satish.
Chalerm accused Satish of being a foreign national who had colluded with the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to violate laws on several occasions, including defying the emergency decree;
But Satish questioned the alleged charges saying although he joined the protest stage of the PDRC several times, he never touched on political issues but economical and business issues.
Besides, he said he also spoke on issue related to the monarch institution of which he loved and strongly upheld with urge that the institution must not be violated by any sides.
“So what charge I am facing,” he said and added it was unfair to accuse me,” he said.
He said he has been in Thailand for over 50 years and being a Thai although he was born in India at the time his family was stuck in India during the Second World War.

จึงออกมาแก้ตัวหน้าตาเฉยว่าจบจาก ม.สยามคูโบต้า
ใน Wikipedia และในเว็บพรรคเพื่อไทยบอกว่าจบ ปริญญาตรี ไม่ระบุมหาวิทยาลัย
แต่ทำไมตอนนี้บอกว่าจบ ม.ปลาย
ตกลงว่า จ่าประสิทธิ์ ไชยศรีษะ โกหกมาโดยตลอดว่าจบปริญญาตรี แต่ตัวเองจบ ม.ปลาย เท่านั้น (บุคคลนี้ควรจะโดนตรวจสอบว่าปลอมแปลงใบปริญญาหรือไม่ เห็นแอบอ้างมาโดยตลอด)
