Police said that five shots from a 9-mm pistol were fired into the shophouse which sells furniture belonging to Mr Pittaya Wongsamrit, one of 15 core members of PDRC in this southern province at about 1 a.m. The shots hit a wardrobe, a chair, a mirror and a sofa.
Mr Thong-in Thanurat, a night guard, said he saw one black sedan pulled to a stop in front of the shophouse and then a gunman lowered a window of the backseat and opened fire into the shophouse before it sped away.
Mr Pittaya said that on Wednesday he led PDRC supporters to solicit fund to support the Bangkok protests from people in the Muang district’s township. He said he was confident that the gun attack on his house was politically motivated but he was not frightened.
Pol Col Wimon Pitakburapha, the police superintendent, said that he believed the attack was just an act of intimidation.
