Over 6,000 taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport will provide 24-hour service to passengers in Bangkok during the PDRC rally, and they will carry orange stickers on windscreens, both back and front, for easy notice to passengers.

13 January 2014 (NNT) — Suvarnabhumi Airport has announced Availability of Public Transportation at Suvarnabhumi Airport Guidelines during the political protest.The ongoing political protest in many areas and the planned closure of many roads in Bangkok may affect your planned route or mode of transportation, Suvarnabhumi Airport would like to advise passengers to avoid the areas nearby the protests. The available modes of public transportation at Suvarnabhumi Airport are as follows:1. Public Taxi Service is available curbside at Entrances 4 and 7, 1st floor of the Passenger Terminal. Airport Limousine Service is available at Airport Limousine Counters in the Baggage Claim Area and Arrival Hall, 2nd floor of the Passenger Terminal. For further information, please contact tel: 0 2134 2323 to 5. 3. Airport Rail Link Service is available on B1 floor of the Passenger Terminal. For further information, please call 1690. 4. BMTA (Public) Van Service is available at Suvarnabhumi Airport’s Public Transportation Center. Whereby, passengers can take a Shuttle Bus from the Passenger Terminal; at Entrances 3 and 7 on the 1st floor, Entrance 5 on the 2nd floor and Entrance 5 on the 4th floor. There are 8 routes available: Minburi, Bangkapi, Victory Monument, Paknam, On-Nut, Lumlukka, Don Mueang and Rangsit. The service is from 05:00 – 22:00. The Tourism and Sports Ministry has launched tourist assistance centers at 3 locations in Bangkok and help desks for tourists at 5 additional locations, to ensure that tourists will get the assistance they may need during the rallies next week.  centers will work with the Tourist Police, hotels and other tourism-related establishments. Volunteers working for the centers will be dispatched to tourism sites and hotels; they can be spotted wearing white shirts with the graphic characters “Tourist’s Friend Center”. The main assistance centers are located at Hua Mark Stadium, Don Mueang Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport. Help desks will be available at Siam, Phayathai, Aekkamai, and Wongwien Yai BTS stations, and at Hua Lamphong train station.Mr. Suwat further revealed that shuttles to the airport will be provided at 3 locations, in events of emergency. These locations comprise the Eastin Grand Sathon Hotel, Windsor Suite Hotel and Twin Tower Hotel.The tourist assistance centers can also be reached via phone number 02-314-1212 around the clock.

10.january :Here are some updated details for the 13th:

– We are closing Chaeng Wattana Road entirely. Government Complex will be inaccessible. Please note that Mongkut Wattana private hospital has volunteered to take care of our friends stationed there. We are indebted to you.
– Lardprao junction will be completely blocked off to private cars (apart from medical vehicles, those with medical emergencies, and the other types of purposes I’ve mentioned previously).
– Victory Monument, Lumpini/Ratchaprasong/Asoke junctions will also be completely blocked off (with the same exceptions as Lardprao junction).
– Pathumwan intersection. This will be our new home.

Our other activity consists of surrounding and closing off government offices so officials cannot enter. Of course, the Ministry of Public Health will not be shut down as the civil servants there have already decided to shut down the Ministry to join us. As I’ve said before, we are NOT shutting down any airports. Tourists and travellers can come and go freely. Occupy Bangkok does NOT involve the shutting down of any type of public transportation, buses, trains, sky trains, underground trains, etc.

Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue –> Sanam Luang –> Somdet Phra Pin Klao Bridge –> Pin Klao Road –> Arunamarin Intersection –> Pata Department Store –> turn right on to Charansanitwong Road –> Sirindhorn Road –> Sang-hee Bridge (Krung Thon Bridge) –> Samsen Road passing by Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University –> Banglamphu –> Phraya Suren Road –> Din So Road –> Democracy Monument.

 We’ll rest on the 8th, then march again on the 9th. We’ll try to reach those nooks and crannies of Bangkok we’ve missed on previous marches. Yingluck, Chalerm, Surapong, how about you organize a march around Bangkok? Will you see masses of friendly faces like we have?

Skirmishes break out between Palaung, Ta’ang ethnic armed groups and gov’t army

Skirmishes broke out three times between Myanmar’s government troops and the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) in Kyaukme and Namtsan Townships of Shan State on Saturday, according to reports of the PSLF/TNLA.

There have been nearly 40 instances of fighting between the two groups since the first peace talks between Myanmar’s peace maker group and the PSLF/TNLA were held at the end of July last year.

On Saturday, a skirmish between the government army and Brigades 717, 506 and 502 of the PSLF/TNLA began at about 4 a.m. in Kyaukme Township.

“We have learned that the fighting broke out in Maingngaw and Namttwe villages in Kyaukme Township. The two groups confronted each other while in transit. Currently, there is no discussion between the two sides. Nearly 30 or 40 skirmishes have taken place since the Muse discussion. It is incumbent on the government’s negotiators to hold peace talks. They [the government] said they have been very busy,” said Tar Joke Gar, vice-chairperson of the PSLF/TNLA.

Late on Saturday afternoon, a clash broke out between government troops and a combined force of the PSLF/TNLA and a KIA-affiliated brigade in Pansayi village in Namtsan Township.

Although the government’s Peacemaking Work Committee (PWC) and the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) held discussions on July 31 to sign ceasefire agreements, skirmishes between the two sides have continued.

To date there have been no individual discussions between the government’s Peacemaking Work Committee and the PSLF/TNLA. However, the PSLF/TNLA did send representatives to a meeting held in Myitgyina Township, Kachin State in early November last year after the Laiza conference in Kachin State. That meeting was attended by the PWC and the National Ceasefire Coordination Team, which was formed by ethnic armed groups and comprised of thirteen leaders.
