BANGKOK Police defend men in black; no live ammunition fired## SUTHEB ANSWER

Suthep Thaugsuban (19.49): Today the National Police Bureau, for the first time, admitted to the presence of police officers shooting down from the rooftop of the Labor Ministry building at Din Daeng on 26 Dec. 2013. Thank you, National Police chief Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew – your direct answers are appreciated. However, the police has not yet provided answers on who issued the instructions for this operations. I think there are two individuals who could be held responsible: Labor Minister Chalerm Yubamroong and National Police deputy chief Worapong Chewpreecha.

(19.58): Deputy Worapong, you should be prepared to be taken to court. (Caretaker Labor Minister) Chalerm, your accusations of the protesters’ insanity on national television today makes you seem insane. You also threatened that I could end up being shot like (PAD leader) Sonthi Limthongkul. I’m not afraid of you, Chalerm!
20.26): Reforming the organizational structure of the police force will free law-abiding policemen from political influence and the abusive authority of their superiors by ensuring the police is held accountable to the public.

19.53): The police had no right to be atop the Labor Ministry in the first instance. The anti-government protesters were unarmed, therefore, there were no grounds for the police to take cover in self-defence on top of the building and shoot at protesters. I believe that Chalerm and Worapong conspired to falsely accuse the protesters from day 1 despite fully knowing it was police officers on top of the Labor Ministry.

BANGKOK, Jan 2 – Police said the so-called “men in black” seen on a building rooftop were actually policemen and they did not fire live ammunition at anti-government protesters who tried to break into the Thai-Japanese stadium last month.

Metropolitan police deputy commander Pol Gen Vorapong Chewpreecha admitted today that the black-clad men seen on the rooftop of labour ministry’s building on Dec 23 were a crowd-control unit of 10 policemen.

He clarified the matter after police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew confirmed that the men were police personnel and promised a full investigation and disciplinary action if found guilty.

Gen Vorapong explained that the ten-man unit was deployed to guard the area. All wore bullet-proof vests.

Pol Lt Gen Sophon Pisuthiwong, as deputy commander of police operations on that day, said all ten officers dispatched to observe the situation as the police on site were surrounded by protesters. The police had only one teargas launcher and one weapon which fired rubber bullets.

The senior police officer said 11 police were wounded in Dec 23 shooting, while some others were hurt by fireworks or homemade explosives introduced by an unknown group of people who intervened to instigate unrest.

Pol Gen Jarumporn Suramanee, adviser to the Royal Thai Police Office, said the killing of Pol Sen Sgt Maj Narong Pitisit who was shot dead in the incident was not the work of the men in black on the rooftop.

He said an autopsy stated that Pol Sen Sgt Maj was not shot from above, but from a horizontal trajectory.

Gen Jarumporn noted that four types of cartridge casings were found at clash sites, including 9mm, 11mm, 38mm and 32mm, adding that experts believe 16 firearms were used in the attack, while police had only batons and shields. (MCOT online news)

Indonesia anti-terror squad kills 6 militants connected to alleged plot in May against the Myanmar Embassy

Indonesia’s elite anti-terrorism squad shot and killed six suspected militants and arrested another amid New Year’s Eve celebrations in an all-night standoff at a house near the country’s capital, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Intelligence gathered from earlier arrests allowed police to storm hideouts in Ciputat on Jakarta’s outskirts as part of an investigation into an alleged plot to bomb the Myanmar Embassy and a Buddhist temple, said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar.

The nine-hour-long shootout started late Tuesday when most Indonesians were preparing to celebrate the end of the year and ended Wednesday. Amar said those killed had refused to surrender and had fired guns and lobbed homemade bombs at security forces, injuring one police officer in his leg.

He said the men were suspected of being part of a larger group involved in robberies used to fund terrorist activities, mainly aimed at police. They also were linked to terrorist group led by Santoso — on the police’s most wanted list — in Poso, a flashpoint of terrorism in Central Sulawesi where a Muslim-Christian conflict killed at least 1,000 people from 1998 to 2002.

“There is a strong indication that they were involved in a series of police killings,” Amar told reporters, adding police found at least six homemade bombs at the house.

Police were trying to determine whether the men killed in the raid were connected to and alleged plot in May against the Myanmar Embassy to retaliate against Myanmar for attacks on Muslims in that country.

In August, a small bomb exploded outside a Buddhist temple packed with praying devotees in Jakarta. One person was injured, but two other devices failed to explode. Officials have said the attack appears to have been meant to avenge the deaths of Muslims in Myanmar.

Sectarian violence in Buddhist-majority Myanmar has killed scores of people, and tens of thousands of Muslims have been driven from their homes.

Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, has been battling terrorists since bombings on the resort island of Bali in 2002 killed 202 people, mostly foreign tourists.

Such attacks aimed at foreigners have been largely replaced in recent years by smaller, less deadly strikes targeting the government, mainly police and anti-terrorism forces.

(21.12): The government is now desperately trying to extinguish our efforts with lies and false accusations. I’ve been told by concerned individuals to set things straight so the public doesn’t have misunderstandings. Thank you for your concern. Please listen up. This will be my last public service. After this task is finished, I’m going home. So I don’t care if the government or anyone else tries to tarnish my reputation – I will not be running for any public office after this, so I could care less what people say about me now.(21.15): During my 35 years as a politician, people have loved and hated me. Coincidentally, almost all of those who hate me are among those we’re trying to topple now.

Sathit Wongnongtoey on stage (19.22): Some tips to remember. First, do come as a group – travel with friends and family. Second, during this 10 day lead-up to the shutdown, Thaksin’s cronies will do what they do best. The scare tactics have already started.

Sathit Wongnongtoey on stage (19.12): Starting from 31 October 31, we’ve now been rallying for 65 days. 10 days remain until we “occupy Bangkok” on 13 Jan. 2014. Our friends in the provinces are already making preparations to travel into Bangkok, along with provisions. The Trang group is coming with a whole truckload of food, and our Isaan friends are fully supplied to stay 20 days!

“The Shut Down of Bangkok” closed Bangkok to anything? When should I start
“Operation Occupy Bangkok”
The why, how and when of shutting down BangkokBangkok will be occupied and symbolically shutdown in a potent display of civil disobedience, effectively turning the caretaker government into a “failed government” that can no longer govern. The masses (“muanmahaprachachon”) will simultaneously occupy Bangkok streets, transforming them into walking streets, and citizens will erect platforms and stage anti-government rallies at every third or fourth intersection. Government officials will not be able to travel to work as citizens will have parked their vehicles to block off every street and intersection.Water and power will be cut off to government offices and the caretaker Prime Minister’s and her cabinet members’ residences. Citizens’ residences will not be affected to avoid disturbing them.Public buses, trains, BTS sky-trains, MRT underground trains, and public boats will operate normally. Street lanes will be reserved for buses as usual and also for ambulances or those with medical emergencies. Our occupation of Bangkok commences on 13 January 2014 at 9.00 hours.

Information Center for Civil Movement for Reform and Good Governance

(20.06): Fellow patriots, we will shutdown Bangkok this 13 Jan. from 9 am onwards. It is the most significant aspect of our civil disobedience movement, as it will paralyze this sham government and show the world how the Thaksin regime and Thakin’s proxy PM and ministers can no longer oversee Thailand because Thai citizens have rejected them. This differs from being a “failed state.”

“Grandmother Sirijan” has donated 50,000 baht to us. Thank you very much for your kindness.

(20.09): On 13 Jan. 2014, the streets of Bangkok will be full of pedestrians. Stages will be set up all over Bangkok – every 3-4 intersections – government officials will not be able to go to work as citizens’ cars will be parked everywhere. Power and water will be cut off in government offices, and the residences of caretaker ministers and the proxy PM. Citizens’ residences will not be affected. Public transportation will be fully operational. Designated street lanes will remain open for medical vehicles and public transport vehicles, but not for state vehicles.

BURMA RAKHINE STATE : Policeman beaten to death by muslim mob

EMG

A policeman was killed in a brutal attack by Bengalis on December 30 in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, according to police.

Two police constables namely Thant Zin Win and Kyaw Kyaw Moe was on their regular patrol on that day’s evening in Sittwe, the state’s capital when they’re brutally beaten by a group of eight Bengalis as they tried to stop the Bengalis destroying tombs in a Chinese cemetery there.

The Bengalis used crowbars to attack the policemen, leaving them injured severely. And one of them was announced dead early morning the next day at the Sittwe hospital.

“This morning, a police force led by Lieutenant Police Major Thit Sann went there to search the offenders. According to information we received till 9am this morning, three suspects were arrested,” said Hla Thein, the chairman of the information committee for the Rakhine State’s government.
