Bus company to launch Yangon-Bangkok one day trip
YANGON – Yangon Air Bus-Taxi Company is planning to launch a Yangon to Bangkok overland day trip via the Myawaddy border crossing, according to company chairman.
The program will start in the new year and will take approximately 12 hours.
“We are going to launch Yangon-Bangkok in one day trip. The fare is Ks 30,000 (US$30) for a local visitor and US$ 40 for a foreigner,” said Zon Maung Maung, Chairman of Yangon Air Bus-Taxi Company.
The passengers will need their passport and must pay 50 Baht for a visa which allows them to stay about 45 days in Thailand.
“The passengers who have no passport and free visa will end their trip in Maesot,” said Zon Maung Maung.
The company has imported 120-seat air-conditioned double-decker buses from Korea and Japan.
The bus will leave Kyanmaryay Seikkan Bus Terminal on Strand Road at 6 a.m and arrive in Pa-Ann Township at 10 a.m and in Kawtkayeik Township at 11 a.m. respectively.
The bus will proceed to Bangkok from Maesot at 2 p.m and arrive in Bangkok at 6 p.m. The trip will take a total of 12 hours.

THAI PBS Former House speaker Uthai Pimchaichon today asked caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to step down for the sake of peace and order in the country.
He said that the country is now in a critical situation and the only person to resolve the problem and pull the country’s from the most critical situation is the prime minister.
He said if she wanted to see peace, she must step down.
He said if she resigned, the political turmoil would turn stagnant and would be easier for election campaign than she still sitting in the caretaker role.
Currently Thai politics comprises two groups of people, the people who represented the true voice of the people and made their voices heard when there are problems. And the other group was people who were designated by the people to use their power.
He then asked the prime minister not to stick to her position, to resist the voice of the people but should listen and step down.
The former House speaker said that he did not agree with everything that the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PRDC) is doing, adding that it was his personal opinion.
He also said that the person who created problems to the country is the fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, and added that Thaksin is now a special human species that could not be reformed.

BANGKOK : Leading Member of PDCR, Jitpas, or well-known as Tant,s house attacked with fire bombs

Jittapat, or Tun, is a granddaughter of the owner of Boonrawd Brewery and is also a leading member of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC). She is also a former election candidate of the Democrat party.
She appeared every midnight at the Democracy Monument to brief the activities of the PDRC to foreign journalists in English.
The PDRC asked her to brief foreign media because the PDRC leaders feared that their activities might be incorrect if they received only information distorted by the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order.
Her translation of the anti-Thaksin regime activities could have angered supporters of the regime to attack her house, a PDRC spokesperson Anchalee Paireerat told protesters this morning at Democracy Monument.
Hua Mark police said they are investigating the bomb attack and are looking to CCTV cameras
Jitpas, or well-known as Tant, is helping the PDRC to give information to foreign media in English at the Democracy Monument every midnight. She was also a former election candidate of the Democrat party in Bangkok.
The house which was attacked with fire bomb is located on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 12.
The petrol bomb attack damaged a Volkswagen van when it caught fire but immediately put out. Nobody in the house was injured.
Security guards at the house said that four men in crash helmets arrived in two motorcycles and one pillion rider hurled a petrol bomb into the house and immediately escaped.
The police established political conflict as the probable cause of the attack.
It was not immediately known if Jitpas was in her father’s home or not during the attack, but she normally would return home after the midnight news briefing to foreign media.
