MYANMAR BURMA : Anti-mine activists on trial for Chinese flag burning

YANGON – Naw Ohn Hla and Tin Htut Paing were charged on Tuesday for burning the Chinese flag to mark the police crackdown on the Letpadaungtaung copper mine protests. 

The two anti-mine activists appeared at a court hearing in Dagon Township Court in Yangon, however two others also charged remained at large. 

Naw Ohn Hla reportedly faced another charge for fleeing a court order after she was charged for praying for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners in 2007. She denies the charge.

“I am surprised to hear that I have faced another charge from the case of 2007. I was not informed about it then. I didn’t flee either. They didn’t come to arrest me,” she said. 

The four of them have been charged with under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code of Myanmar for harming state tranquility. 

A defence lawyer, Robert San Aung, told Eleven Media: “I have not found any law in our country saying that one can be punishable for destroying the flag of a foreign country. I have to study this case when it is going on.” 

Another trial will be held on December 24.

๒) เป็นไปได้ไหมครับว่า “ผล” ที่แตกต่างกันของการใช้หลัก ๑ คน ๑ เสียงในอเมริกา, อังกฤษ, ไทย ฯลฯ นั้น ไม่ได้เกิดจาก “คุณภาพ/วิถียังชีพประชากรผู้ออกเสียงเลือกตั้ง” เพียงปัจจัยเดียวหรือเป็นหลัก, แต่เกิดจาก “ความสัมพันธ์ทางอำนาจที่เหลื่อมล้ำระหว่างชนชั้นปกครองกับประชาชน” หรือ “อุดมการณ์/วัฒนธรรมเหยียดหยามและลดทอนคุณค่าความเป็นคนลงเหลือแค่ใบปริญญา” หรือปัจจัยอื่น ๆ?

๓) สมมุติว่ามันใช้ไม่ได้ ไม่ทราบว่าศาสตราจารย์ ดร.สมบัติคิดว่าอดีตอธิการบดีนิด้าอย่างตัวท่านเองควรจะมีสักกี่เสียงถึงจะสมน้ำสมเนื้อเต็มภาคภูมิล่ะครับ? ควรจะเท่ากันหรือมากกว่ากี่เสียงเมื่อเทียบกับรปภ.หน้าประตูนิด้า พ่อค้าแม่ค้าขายอาหารในโรงอาหารนิด้า เจ้าหน้าที่ธุรการนิด้า พนักงานทำความสะอาดสุขาที่นิด้า นักศึกษานิด้า บัณฑิตนิด้า คณาจารย์นิด้า?

มีบางคนเริ่มตั้งคำถามว่า กปปส.จะไปยังไงต่อ? สุเทพขี่หลังเสือแล้วสิ? เริ่มซื้อเวลาไปเรื่อยๆ..สภาประชาชนไม่มีทางเกิดขึ้นได้ อาจเป็นสภาโจ๊ก! คนพวกนี้ทำไมไม่ตั้งคำถามกลับไปที่รัฐบาล คนไทยที่ไม่เอาคุณรวมตัวกันเรือนล้านมา 2 วาระแล้ว (24 พ.ย. 9 ธ.ค.) คุณยังหน้าด้านอยู่อีกหรือ?

ลองเป็นคำรบ 3 มั๊ย..”ถ้าใครไม่เอารัฐบาลรักษาการณ์ยิ่งลักษณ์ ให้ออกมากันเยอะๆ” ผมมั่นใจว่า คุณก็จะเห็นปรากฏการณ์ชุมนุมที่อาจจะมากกว่าวันที่ 9 อีก

คนพวกนี้ ทำไมไม่ตั้งคำถามไปที่รัฐบาล ที่ออก พ.ร.บ.ล้างผิดคนโกง แก้ รธน.สร้างสภาผัวเมีย ด้วยวิธีเสียบบัตรแทนกัน พอศาลตัดสินว่าผิด ก็ไม่ยอมรับ พวกคุณอย่าลืมสิครับ อย่าเป็นคนไทยลืมง่าย “ไม่ยอมรับอำนาจศาล” นี่ ไม่มีประเทศไหนในโลกเขาทำกัน แต่ประเทศไทยทำ และทำโดยรัฐบาลยิ่งลักษณ์! ถ้าเป็นพวกเสื้อแดงไม่เห็นความผิดเหล่านี้ก็เป็นธรรมดา แต่ผมได้ยินจากคนที่มีการศึกษา และมีข้อมูลข่าวสารมากพอที่จะเห็นความเลวร้ายของรัฐบาล ที่ไม่เคยเห็นมาก่อนในประเทศไทย

ผมไปร่วมชุมนุม โดยไม่ต้องคิดอะไรมาก ไม่ได้คิดว่าสภาประชาชนจะเกิดขึ้นได้ไหม? ไม่ได้เชียร์คุณสุเทพ? ไม่ได้ห่วงสถานภาพความเป็นสื่อ แต่ผมใช้สิทธิ์ความเป็นพลเมือง คิดอย่างเดียว “กูไม่เอาระบอบทักษิณ” (อย่ามาตอแหลนะว่า ระบอบทักษิณ คืออะไร!)

THAILAND : Police arrest two men for torching bus near Ramkhamhaeng University

 

BANGKOK, Dec 11 – Police today arrest two men suspected of burning a bus on December 1 in front of Ramkhamhaeng University near Rajamangala National Stadium where Red shirts had rallied to show their support for the government.

Royal Thai Police’s Commissioner General Office adviser Pol Lt Gen Jarumporn Suramanee said the evidence collected to arrest the men was from a camera of a citizen bystander showing three young men taking items from the bus. One was caught in the bus and burned to death.

The second man was identified as Adisorn Srichanpong, 29, and the third is a 15-year-old with his name being withheld due to his age. However, they denied torching the bus and said the dead man could not make it off the bus in time.

Authorities added that the dead man, 19 year-old Suradet Khampaengjai, was involved in the arson.

The bus was torched in front of Ramkhamhaeng Unviersity and the flames spread rapidly, locking Mr Suradet inside, causing his death.

The two detainees said they lived in Bangkapi district and were asked by a group of vocational school students to get on the bus and steal items from there.

Minister Chalerm to protest if police do not arrest Suthep in 2 days

Caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has threatened to stage a protest in front of the Metropolitan Police Bureau if the police do not arrest protest leader Suthep Thuagsuban in 48 hours.

The minister said on Wednesday that Mr Suthep, secretary-general of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, has only one option – that is to turn himself in to the police to acknowledge the charges against him which include insurrection.

He pleaded with the protesters to return home and urged the Democrat party to contest the February 2 election “if they are confident of their support”.  However, he said that the Pheu Thai party would definitely win the election.

The minister criticized some academics who voiced support for Suthep’s demand for the appointment of an interim prime minister and the creation of a people’s council to draw a national reform blueprint, branding them as being stupid or being cunning.

As for Thirayuth Boonmee, a Thammasat lecturer, who voiced support for people’s revolution to effect national reform, Chalerm said he had lost respect for the lecturer whom he used to be familiar with.

Abhisit Vejjajiva is ready to defend murder case in the Criminal Court – red-shirt leader Supporn Attawong, now deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister, asking Department of Special Investigation to protest granting bail for Abhisit and Suthep at tomorrow’s hearing

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva is ready to defend murder case in the Criminal Court tomorrow.

Party spokesperson Chavanond Intarakomalsoot and protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban are scheduled to appear at the Criminal Court tomorrow on the first hearing of the murder trial for their involvement in the government suppression of rioters in 2010.

They were earlier scheduled to appear at the court on October 31 but  was put off to December 12 when the Parliament held a special session to debate the controversial amendment to the Constitution regarding the composition of the Senate.

The spokesman said the party leader would appear at the court tomorrow as he was confident of his innocence in enforcing the law during the riot.

Meanwhile protest leader Suthep would ask the court to adjourn the hearing of the case to other date.

At the same time a red-shirt leader Supporn Attawong, now deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister, said he was asking the Department of Special Investigation to protest granting bail for Abhisit and Suthep at tomorrow’s hearing as he feared that if both had the chance to return to power, they would again abuse the power to take revenge on the red-shirt people.

Abhisit was then prime minister during the 2010 riot and Suthep was deputy prime minister in charge of the Center for Resolution of Emergency Situation.
