BANGKOK, 29 November 2013 (NNT) – The Election Commission is readying by-elections in 8 constituencies in 6 provinces as a result of the resignation by 8 Democrat Party members of parliament.
Election Commissioner Praphan Naikowit disclosed that provincial election commissions reported that they were about 90% prepared for the upcoming polls. However, officials have been told to emphasize neutrality and transparency in arranging the elections, as the upcoming polls will take place amidst an abnormal country situation. Focus was being specially given to officials at the voting stations and the vote tallying process in order to reduce complaints from candidates in the election.
According to Mr. Phraphan, candidate registration will take place between December 2-6, and registration for early voting will take place during the same period. The actual voting day is set for December 22, and the early voting day for December 15.
