EMG : Twelve political parties from Myanmar have been invited to meet with social organizations in Thailand and the United Nationals Federal Council (UNFC), and so far all but one of the parties have submitted their names to attend the meeting, according to an official at the Myanmar Peace Centre.
Among the parties listed to attend the meeting in Chiang Mai, the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party is included. The meeting will last from November 21-24.
“The main reason for holding this meeting is that political meetings will soon be held in Myanmar. Ethnic armed forces and political parties are also dialogue partners. To know more about each other and gain understanding among them, to realize each other’s difficulties, is an important part of learning how to work together to change the entire nation,” said Aung Naing Oo of the Myanmar Peace Centre, concerning the trip.
Union Minister Aung Min invited the political parties to attend the meeting after discussions with Union Ministers and political parties on November 10 in Yangon. He said the political parties can discuss any topic without any limits during the meeting with ethnic armed groups and social organizations.
