BHAMO—Fighting between government troops and KIA forces erupted near Namt Lin Par refugee camp on Sunday, causing refugees to flee from the camp, sources say.
The refugees ran away from the camp to Mansi Kyi, some two days’ walking distance from the camp, after news that fighting would start at 10 p.m. reached the camp. The fighting lasted until 11 a.m. on Monday, and all was quiet by mid-day.
When government troops entered Ma Khaw Yan, Mone Dane Par and Kaung Jwar villages during the second week of October, locals ran away to Namt Lin Par village and Bhamo. The villagers from Namt Lin Par village had to flee to the Namt Lin Par refugee camp due to the government troops entering the village.
“The refugee groups that arrived today are from Ma Kyaing, Namt Lin Par and Kaung Lwin. We had about 1,000 refugees at first and now there are more than 2,000 refugees,” an in-charge of the refugee camp said.
Due to the renewal of hostilities on October 22, more than 2,000 refugees fled to Bhamo. Now there are more than 4,000 refugees in Mansi and Bhamo as a result of the increasing numbers who have fled the fighting, according to the Kachin Baptist Church (KBC).
15-11-2013 A high-level delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was greeted by an estimated 3,000 protestors Friday, when the group that includes foreign ministers from Islamic countries arrived in western Burma’s troubled Arakan State.“We are still investigating the case and will not disclose much about it,” said a police officer based in Apauk Wa police station located nearby the Kyar Pru Byint village.
Earlier in a similar incident that took place in Pauk Taw township, a
five year old Khami national minor was murdered by the miscreants.
According to her relatives, the minor girl went on missing while she was playing with her friends at the full moon ceremony on November 17, 2013.
The daughter of U Shwe Mi and Daw War War Oo from Soe Mae Kyi village under Pauk Taw township is suspected to get killed in the same evening and her body was also recovered next morning.
The police started the investigation process after the body was sent for autopsy in Pauk Taw hospital.
Meanwhile, they face lot of queries from the local villagers as both the incidents took place within two days and sent a shock wave across the locality.
