Security Tightened Up in Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon Due to Blasts at Buddha Gaya of India

Security will be stepped up in Shwedagon pagoda of Yangon Region because of recent bomb blasts at Buddha Gaya in India, according to pagoda trustee sources.

Shwedagon pagoda trustee in cooperation with police forces is known to tighten up security.

“We’ll step up security and we’re discussing it. Myanmar Police Force has planned security measures. How many security forces are used and where they are deployed are confidential. We are following the instruction of police forces,” said a member of the trustee.

Security is learned to have been stepped up in Maharmuni Yokeshindawmyat Buddha image and Swedawmyat pagoda (the tooth relic of Buddha) in Mandalay, Maharanthtookantha pagoda in Pyin Oo Lwin township and other famous pagodas in Myanmar as in Yangon.

Two monks, one of whom is a Myanmar monk studying in India, the other is a Tibet monk, and five people were injured in eight bomb blasts finding the four unexploded bombs on 7 July, India authorities say.

The President of Sri Lanka has reportedly called on India government to take immediate action against those bombers.
