Muslim Extremist ‘Happy’ About Boston Bombings

The head of a Muslim extremist group says he’s happy to see the horror in America after the bombings in Boston.

Mohammad al-Chalabi is part of the Jordanian Muslim Salafi group.

In 2003, al-Chalabi was convicted in an al Qaeda-linked plot to attack the United States and other Western diplomatic missions in Jordan.

He said, “Let the Americans feel the pain we endured by their armies occupying Iraq and Afghanistan and killing our people there.”

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the U.S. Embassy in Amman.

A counter-terrorism expert based in Jordan said the blasts “carry the hallmark” of terrorists groups like al Qaeda but didn’t elaborate.

MYANMAR DAW AUNG SAN SUU KYI:” I am not very keen on colourful statements”

Burma’s 1982 Citizenship Law is something Burmese citizens got to decide.

she said: “With regard to whether or not Rohingya are citizens of the country, that depends very much on whether or not they meet the requirements of the citizenship law as they now exist.

Tokyo: Myanmar democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi defended her conciliatory political style Wednesday, saying her focus was on building a more unified society rather than making headlines.Suu Kyi, visiting Japan this week, said many interviewers have asked her why she does not speak more forcefully about the plight of minority groups in her nation.

She said she has been addressing those issues, albeit in ways that people may consider “boring”.

“In fact, I have been speaking all the time about ethnic nationalities. But the point was that my statements were not colourful enough to please everybody,” she told a press conference.

“Actually I am not very keen on colourful statements. I am sorry if people do not find my comments interesting enough to acknowledge them.

“But I have been speaking a lot about ethnic nationalities and problems of national reconciliation in our country, except that I speak in a way in which, I suppose, most people consider slightly boring.” Continue reading “MYANMAR DAW AUNG SAN SUU KYI:” I am not very keen on colourful statements””

Following his meeting with Burmese Minister for the President’s Office, U Aung Min, the Foreign Secretary said:

It was a pleasure to welcome His Excellency Aung Min to the United Kingdom, and to congratulate him on his role in the remarkable changes we have seen in Burma.

We discussed the peace process in Burma, which has seen ceasefires with ten out of eleven armed groups across the country after years of fighting, and how British experts could best support further progress. We agreed on the need to take forward negotiations to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Kachin State, and to address the hostility behind the recent outbreak of anti-Muslim violence in Meiktila. The British Government will continue to support work bringing different faith communities in Burma together.

We discussed the serious humanitarian situation in Rakhine State and the importance of ensuring that the Rohingya community, which has lived in Burma for many centuries, is accorded full citizenship rights in line with international standards.

Last week G8 foreign ministers endorsed the Burmese Government’s commitment to responsible investment, and today I made clear that the British Government will continue to do all it can to encourage Burma’s transition to a free and prosperous society.

Syrian Islamist have been attempting to smuggle Muslim extremists into Myanmar, a Syrian Islamist source told NOW.

According to the source, “many attempts have been made to send Jihadists to Myanmar for the sake of our brothers.”

“Contacts with Islamist groups in Pakistan, India and other surrounding countries are being made in order to facilitate their entry into Myanmar.”

The source, however, added that “these attempts have failed.”

Speaking to NOW, Salafist Sheikh Bilal al-Masri called on Muslims to attack Buddhists and their interests.

“I decree that every person who can get to a Buddhist should kill him because they are killing our people and the Muslims cannot be blamed for their reaction.”

The Sheikh went on to say that there was “a systematic war” against Muslims in Mali, Iraq, Palestine and Myanmar.

“All this can trigger extremism, and then they will say that we are the terrorists,” the sheikh added.

Extremist groups have emerged in Syria after more than two years of violence between President Bashar al-Assad’s regime loyalists and rebels.

Al-Nusra Front emerged as one of the prominent organizations involved in Syria’s conflict, which erupted in March 2011.

Soaring Buddhist-Muslim tensions have cast a shadow over political reforms in Myanmar, where the end of decades of authoritarian military rule has laid bare deep sectarian fault lines.

Myanmar’s former military rulers employed Buddhist nationalism to help prop up their government, which ruled over the Rohingya ethnic group that practices Sunni Islam.

Deadly communal unrest erupted in central Myanmar last month, the worst since violence between Buddhists and Rohingya in the western state of Rakhine last year left scores dead and tens of thousands – mainly Muslims – displaced.

Rohingya have been fleeing the violence in Myanmar in the thousands and are described by the UN as one of the most persecuted minorities in the world.
