Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, Pathberiye Gnanaloka Thero, was assaulted by members of Tamil outfits at the Big Temple in Thanjavur

A group of Sri Lankan tourists was attacked by three unidentified persons at Central railway station on Monday. The incident happened when the 16 tourists alighted from Tamil Nadu Express that reached the city from New Delhi.

Nobody was injured though two Sri Lankans were targeted. Sources said that the attackers fled after the assault.

“A video footage is available but it may be difficult to trace them because the men were wearing caps,” said a railway police official. (Source: Times of India)

He was part of a team of students of the Institute of Archaeology of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), New Delhi, on a study tour.
