A military helicopter made an emergency landing yesterday evening near Tarlawgyi Village in Kachin State due to machine failures, Deputy Information Minister Ye Htut announced on his Facebook page.
Ye Htut, who was recently appointed as the spokesperson for the President’s Office, wrote that relief operations have already started at the landing site, but no official details were given about the number of fatalities and causalities.
However, rumors spread about some fatalities and casualties after the helicopter crashed.
Military-owned Myawaddy Media also announced on its Facebook page that the helicopter doing administrative matters had to make an emergency landing near the Tarlawgyi Village, 20 miles south of the state’s capital Myitkyina.
Helicopters carrying soldiers have arrived at the crash site to do rescue works, according to Myawaddy Media.
