ကရင္ျပည္နယ္၊ လႈိင္းဘဲြၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ ၿမိဳင္ႀကီးငူ အထူးေဒသတစ္ေနရာတြင္ ယမန္ေန႔အေစာပုိင္းက နယ္ျခားေစာင့္တပ္ (BGF)အခ်င္းခ်င္း ပစ္ခတ္မႈျဖစ္ပြားခဲ့ရာ BGF ဘက္က တပ္ခဲြမႉးတစ္ဦး ေသဆုံးခဲ့သည္ဟု သိရသည္။
ယမန္ေန႔ မနက္ ၄နာရီခန္႔တြင္ ၿမိဳင္ႀကီးငူအထူးေဒသရွိ ရင္းပုိင္းတံတား(ေယာ္ပိုတုိ)ေနရာတြင္ BGF တပ္ရင္း(၁၀၁၁)တပ္ရင္းမွ တပ္ခဲြမႉး ဗုိလ္ႀကီးတင္ၫႊန္႔ စီးနင္းလာသည့္ ကားတစ္စီးကို BGF တပ္ရင္း(၁၀၁၂)မွ တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ား၏ ပစ္ခတ္ခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္သည္ဟု BGF ႏွင့္ နီးစပ္သူ တစ္ဦးက ေျပာသည္။
၎က “၁၆ရက္ေန႔ မနက္ ၄နာရီခဲြေလာက္မွာ ဗုိလ္တင္ၫႊန္႔နဲ႔ သူ႔ညီ ႏွစ္ေယာက္ ၿမိဳင္ႀကီးငူကေန ေရတံခြန္ကို သြားဖုိ႔ ရင္းပုိင္းတံတားအ ေရာက္မွာ (၁၀၁၂)တပ္ရင္းက ဗုိလ္ေဒါဘုိးရဲ႕လူေတြ စႏုိက္ပါနဲ႔ ပစ္ထည့္လုိက္ေတာ့ ဗုိလ္တင္ၫႊန္႔ ပဲြခ်င္းၿပီးပဲ ေသသြားတယ္။ သူ႔ညီ ဒ႐ုိင္ဘာကေတာ့ ဘာမွ မျဖစ္ဘူး”ဟု ေျပာသည္။
၁၀၁၂တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ား ယခုလုိ ပစ္ခတ္ရျခင္းမွာ ဗုိလ္တင္ညြန္႔မွ ဒီေကဘီေအ ၉၀၅၏ ကားကို စီးနင္းလာသည့္ကားသည့္အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ မွားယြင္းပစ္ခတ္မိျခင္း ျဖစ္ႏုိင္သည္ဟု ျမ၀တီရွိ ဒီေကဘီေအ ဆက္ဆံေရး႐ုံးမွ ဗုိလ္ႀကီးတစ္ဦးက ေကအုိင္စီသုိ႔ ေျပာသည္။
သူက “ကားက က်ေနာ္တုိ႔ ၉၀၅က တပ္ရင္းမႉးကားေပါ့ေနာ္။ အဲဒီကားကုိ ဗုိလ္တင္ညႊန္႔ညီက ျပင္ေပးဖုိ႔ ယူလာတာ။ အဲဒီကားနဲ႔ သူ (ဗုိလ္ တင္ၫႊန္႔)က ကားႀကံဳအျဖစ္ စီးလာတာ။ အဲဒါကို DKBA ထင္လုိ႔ သူတုိ႔ (၁၀၁၂) ပစ္လုိက္တာထင္တယ္”ဟု ေျပာသည္။
၎ပစ္ခတ္မႈနွင့္စပ္လ်ဥ္း၍ KNLA တပ္မဟာ (၇)မွ ႐ုံးထုိင္မွဴး ဗုိလ္မွဴးအယ္ဆဲဆဲက “စည္းကမ္းလည္းမရွိ၊ ေပၚလစီလည္းမရွိ တစ္ဗုိလ္ တစ္မင္း၊ ကိုယ့္မင္းကိုယ့္ခ်င္းပုံစံနဲ႔ ေနတဲ့ပုံစံဆုိေတာ့ အခ်င္းခ်င္း မေက်မနပ္ျဖစ္လုိ႔ ပစ္ခတ္တာလည္း ျဖစ္ႏုိင္ပါတယ္။ က်ေနာ္တုိ႔အေနနဲ႔ ကေတာ့ ဘာမွ မေျပာတတ္ပါဘူး”ဟု ေျပာသည္။
ယခု အခင္းျဖစ္ပြားရာ ေနရာတြင္ DKBA ႏွင့္ KNLA တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ား လႈပ္ရွားမႈမရွိဘဲ BGF (၁၀၁၁)ႏွင့္ (၁၀၁၂)တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ားသာ အေျခခ် လႈပ္ရွားရာ ေနရာျဖစ္သည္ဟု နယ္ေျမခံမ်ား၏ ေျပာျပခ်က္အရ သိရသည္။ နယ္ျခားေစာင့္တပ္ (၁၀၁၁)တပ္ရင္း၏ တပ္ရင္းမႉးမွာ ဗုိလ္မႉး စုိးႏုိင္ျဖစ္ၿပီး (၁၀၁၂)တပ္ရင္း၏ တပ္ရင္းမွဴးမွာ ဗုိလ္မႉးေအာင္လင္း ျဖစ္သည္။
ၿပီးခဲ့သည့္ ေဖေဖာ္၀ါရီလ ၁၉ရက္ေန႔တြင္ ၿမိဳင္ႀကီးအထူးေဒသ၌ BGF တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ားမွ ဗုိလ္မွဴးေစာဘိ ဦးစီးသည့္ DKBA တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ား၏ လက္နက္ ၂၀ေက်ာ္ သိမ္းဆည္းခဲ့ရာမွ အျပန္အလွန္ ပစ္ခတ္မႈမ်ား ျဖစ္ပြားခဲ့ဖူးေသာ္လည္း BGF တပ္ဖဲြ႕၀င္ အခ်င္းခ်င္း ပစ္ခတ္မႈမွာ တႏွစ္ေက်ာ္အၾကာတြင္ ပထမဦးဆုံး ျဖစ္သည္။
Ceasefire promise broken, KNU leader Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung sentence to life
The sentencing of Karen National Union leader, Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung, to a life sentence has the potential to derail government peace talks. KNU officials claim they were given assurances by government representatives that Mahn Nyein Maung would be freed as part of the ceasefire discussions.
The Karen National Union leader Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung was sentenced to life plus three years on March 13th at a court inside Burma notorious Insein Prison.
Speaking to Karen News, Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung’s lawyer, U Kyi Myint said his client was sentenced under Article 17/1 and 122/1 by the acting judge, U Hla Win at 12 pm on March 13.
“Article 17/1 is three years and 122/1 is life. They combined the sentences. He was sentenced at about 12 pm by U Hla Win, judge of court in Northern Insein district.”
The KNU had been led to believe at the recent ceasefire talks that the government would release Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung as an act of goodwill towards building trust in the current peace process. Now many observers are concerned the jailing and the severity of Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung sentence and as his lawyer, U Kyi Myint, points out that it will have a negative impact on the peace building process.
“The government claims they are trying to build peace and they have signed preliminary agreement with the KNU. During this peace building time, the government by harshly sentencing a senior leader of the KNU – I think there will be consequences that will hurt the peace process.”
U Kyi Myint says Padoh Mahn Nyein Maung still has the right to appeal within 60 days.
Naw Wah, Mahn Nyein Maung’s wife, told Karen News that the news of the severe sentence given to her husband had deeply saddened her.
“I am upset. He (Mahn Nyein Maung) is not young now. I want him to be freed. I also want the KNU and the government to discuss his release when they hold their talks. Karen fighters and Burma Army soldiers killed over ceasefire breech
Despite a ceasefire agreement being agreed to by Karen National Union and the Burma government on January 12th fighting between both sides continues. The latest incident happened when government troops refused to stop sending military supplies through KNU held territory to their Burma Army bases.
Soldiers from both sides were killed and wounded in the clash. The KNU confirmed to Karen News that fighters from the Karen National Liberation Army, Brigade 5 area attacked Burma Army soldiers from Division 66 in the Khay Pu village area after the Burma army soldiers crossed over the line marking the KNU designated area on March 4. The Burma army was sending army rations and supplies to its frontline soldiers. Last week, on March 9th, the Burma Army retaliated by attacking the KNU.
Major Saw Kler Doh, an office manager with the Karen National Liberation Army in Brigade 5, told Karen News.
“One Burma Army soldier was killed in the March 4 fighting, on March 9, one of our soldier’s was killed and one injured by the Burma Army.”
The KNLA, Brigade 5 released a notice to the Burma Army, after the preliminary ceasefire agreement, warning them not to cross over the 200 metre designated boundary line on the main road.
The KNU have accused the Burma Army of sending munitions with army rations from their Busar Khee camp at Taungoo to their Koh Taw camp in Papun Township.
The Burma Army’s Light Infantry Battalion 108 and Infantry Battalion 80 under Division 80 is active in the Papun area, Karen News could not confirmed the Burma Army Battalion involved in the current fighting.
The KNLA’s Brigade 5 monthly report, record that there were four clashes between the Karen fighters and Burma Army soldiers in the Papun area since the preliminary ceasefire agreement.
Despite the preliminary ceasefire agreement between the Burma government and the Karen National Union earlier this month the Burma Army continues to send military supplies and reinforcements to its troops in KNU controlled areas.
On 1st March, President Thein Sein’s celebrated the first year anniversary of his government by speaking on state controlled television about his government’s achievements. He talked about walking the country towards a sustainable peace, that his government did not have a ‘tricky strategy’ and he wanted to build trust and engagement with ethnic groups. Two months after the preliminary ceasefire talks with ethnic armed opposition groups fighting is still ongoing in Shan, Karen and Kachin States.

“ ဒီလိုပါဗ်။ ေသဆံုးသူက BGF (၁၀၁၁) က ဗိုလ္တင္ညြန္႔ျဖစ္တယ္။ သူကကားၾကဳံ စီးလာတာျဖစ္တယ္။ သူတ ပည့္တေယာက္ ေပ်ာက္ေနတယ္။ ကားကေတာ့ ဒီေကဘီေအ ကလို႔ထူးလားပိုင္ ကားပါဗ်။ ေမာင္းသူက အရပ္သား ဗိုလ္တင္ညြန္႔ရဲ့ ညီေလး ျဖစ္ေနတယ္။ က်ေနာ္တို႔ စဥ္းစားေနရတာက ဒီကားဟာ က်ေနာ္တို႔ ဒီေကဘီေအ ကလို႔ထူးလား တပ္ မွဴးတဦးျဖစ္တဲ့ ကန္ညီေနာင္ ဗိုလ္မွဴးေမာင္ေလးရဲ့ ကားဆိုေတာ့ သူကို႔ရည္ရြယ္ျပီး ပစ္လိုက္တာလား စဥ္းစားစရာျဖစ္ေန တယ္။” လို႔ ဆိုပါသည္။

ဤသို႔ေၾကာင့္ အစိုးရ BGF တပ္ဖြဲ႔တို႔သည္၊ ျပီးခဲ့သည့္ ေဖေဖၚ၀ါရီ (၁၉) ရက္ေန႔က ျမိဳင္ႀကီးငူရွိ DKBA တပ္ဖြဲ႔ထံမွ လက္ နက္ (၃၂) လက္နဲ႔ အီကြစ္မင္း (၁၅) စံုကို သိမ္းယူခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါသည္။ သို႔ေသာ္ ေဖေဖၚ၀ါရီ (၂၄) ရက္၌ ျပန္လည္ေပးအပ္ခဲ့ရ ပါသည္။ ဤကဲ့သို႔ေသာ နွစ္ဖက္ ဆက္ဆံေရး အေျခအေနေၾကာင့္ ေဖေဖၚ၀ါရီ (၂၆) ရက္ေန႔တြင္ ျမိဳင္ႀကီးငူေဒသ လက္ နက္ကိုင္ ပ႗ိပကၡမျဖစ္ေစေရး၊ကို ႏိုင္ငံေတာ္ျငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရး ေဖၚေဆာင္ေရးအဖြဲ႔က လက္မွတ္ထိုးေစခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါသည္။
