24.02.The fighting in Monghai, Tachilek township, opposite Chiangrai, began when the Mongphyak-based Military Operations Command (MOC) #18 ordered the Shan State Army’s 34th Battalion to move south of the Mae Sai river toward the Thai border and to remain there. So far 4 clashes have taken place. “We have received no order from Loi Taileng (the SSA HQ) for us to retreat,” said Lt-Col Gawn Zeun, Commander of the 1st Military Region, who is directing the fighting.
