Women’s League of Burma welcomes the meeting between two women world leaders: Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Mrs. Hillrary Clinton
Women’s League of Burma welcomes the face-to-face meeting between Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, highly respected by the people of Burma and the international community alike, and US Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Clinton to be held on December 2 to discuss about Burma’s political developments.
We truly believe that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Mrs. Hillary Clinton, being influential women national leaders, will work with their full heartfelt commitment for the long-term safety and well-being of women who compose of half of the world’s population, including in Burma.
Women are the most vulnerable and are victims of Burma’s deteriorating political, economic and social sectors. In addition, women living in conflict-raging ethnic states are currently being abused using many forms of violence, including gang rape, sexual-slavery, and slaughter.
At the 2009 United Nations Security Council Conference on Women, Security and Peace, Mrs. Hillary Clinton strongly denounced those responsible for committing acts of sexual violence against women during armed conflict in the Congo and demanded a harsh punishment for all perpetrators. We fervently request Mrs. Clinton to also call for bringing justice to women in Burma facing similar abuses and demand an end of the impunity that the members of military have significantly enjoyed.
Last May, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi acknowledged that rape is used as a weapon of war in the ethnic areas of Burma in her video message to the Conference on Ending Sexual Violence in Conflict, organized by the Nobel Women’s Initiative in Montebello, Canada.
We welcome initiatives of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to bring increased number of women into political leadership and specifically into the National League for Democracy (NLD)’s new leading committee list that was required to register their party, which includes 11 female members out of 21.
We believe that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has taken the best choice and the most plausible strategy out of a terrible and very complex situation, and that she does so out of the highest interest for the people of Burma.
It is assured that we, the Women’s League of Burma, are in full support of our respective leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi while she takes politically sensitive steps at this juncture.

တဆက္တည္းတြင္ “KIA (Kachin Independence Army) ႏွင့္ KIO (Kachin Independence Organization)” ဟူေသာ အသံုးအႏႈန္းႏွင့္ စပ္လ်ဥ္း၍ KIO အဖြဲ႕ေအာက္ လုပ္ငန္းဌာနတစ္ခုအေနျဖင့္ KIA ကို ဖြဲ႕စည္းထားျခင္းသာျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း လာနန္ က ရွင္းျပသည္။
ႏို၀င္ဘာလ ၁၃ ရက္ကလည္း ျမစ္ၾကီးနားၿမိဳ႕တြင္ ကေလးငယ္မ်ားအပါအ၀င္ လူ ၁၀ ဦး ထက္မနည္း ေသဆံုးၿပီး ၂၀ ေက်ာ္ဒဏ္ရာရရွိေစသည့္ ျပင္းထန္သည့္ အၾကမ္းဖက္တိုက္ခိုက္မႈ ျဖစ္ပြားခဲ့သည္။ ၎သည္ အစိုးရ၏ လုပ္ရပ္ျဖစ္ႏိုင္သည္ဟု ျမစ္ၾကီးနား ျမိဳ႕ခံမ်ား ယူဆထားသည္။

Closing Ceremony of Mine-Risk Education Training holds in Maesot
Burma Medical Association (BMA) holds the closing ceremony of mines risk education training at 9 am today in Mae Sot, Thailand, U Aye Lwin, the responsible person from BMA, said.
“Battles are still happening in Myanmar. There are many landmines left in battle fields even though battles are over. These landmines have affected people. It causes people injured and damages of Social Environment. Locals don’t know how to prevent it. That’s why we give this training let locals know about landmines education,” U Aye Lwin said.
The Burma Medical Association (BMA) is formed with the group of ethnic medical organizations, especially, the organizations of Karen, Mon, Shan, Karen Ni, Kachin, Kayan and Rakhine. This is the first landmines education training in 2011. Healthcare workers from Karen and Karenni area attended the training. The training took 9 days. Ethnic leaders joining The Lady to meet Clinton tomorrow

According to Shan sources in Rangoon, the schedule for visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to meet the Shans at their community temple tomorrow has been changed to a joint meeting at Aung San Suu Kyi’s home.
The meeting will be at 08:30 and joined by U Win Tin, the National League for Democracy’s elder, and 4 other representatives from the Committee Representing People’s Parliament (CRPP). The Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) will be represented by Sai Saw Aung, an executive member of its secretariat.
