Xinhua reported yesterday, quoting a statement by Beijing, that police forces from 4 nations: Burma, China, Laos and Thailand, will begin a joint patrol of the Mekong next month. The exact date is not mentioned, but it is expected to begin before 15 December. The move follows what the Chinese press calls “the 5 October case”, the day 13 Chinese crewmen and women were brutally killed near the Golden Triangle. (ASTV Manager Online)

ဒီဇင်ဘာ လလယ်ဟုဆိုသော်လည်း ဒီဇင်ဘာ ၁၅ ရက်မတိုင်မီ ကင်းလှည့်မှုစ နိုင်ကြောင်း၊ မဲခေါင်မြစ်အတွင်း လှေအသွားအလာကိုလည်း ထိုမှစ၍ ခွင့်ပြုမည်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း ထိုင်းအရာရှိတဦးကလည်း သျှမ်းသံတော်ဆင့် အား ပြောပြသည်။
အောက်တိုဘာ ၅ ရက် အမှုဖြစ်ပြီးနောက်ပိုင်း ပထမဆုံးအကြိမ် မဲခေါင်မြစ်အတွင်း ၄ နိုင်ငံ အစိုးရပူးပေါင်း ဆောင်ရွက်မှုဖြစ်သည်။
အောက်တိုဘာ ၅ ရက်က တရုတ်လှေ ၂ စီးအား အမည်မသိ လက်နက်ကိုင်တစုက  တိုက်ခိုက်၍ လှေလုပ်သား ၁၃ ဦး အသတ်ခံရသည့်အမှုဖြစ်ပွါးခဲ့သည်။ အဆိုပါ အမှု၏ လက်သည်မှာ ရွှေတြိဂံဒေသ၌ လှုပ်ရှားနေသော နော်ခမ်းဦးဆောင် သည့် လက်နက်ကိုင်တပ်ဖွဲ့ဖြစ်ကြောင်း တရုတ်နှင့်ထိုင်းအာဏာပိုင်များက ပြောဆို ခဲ့ကြသည်။
သို့သော် လက်နက်ကိုင်အဖွဲ့ခေါင်းဆောင်စိုင်းနော်ခမ်းမှာ မိမိလက်ချက်မဟုတ်ကြောင်း ၎င်း၏မိတ်ဆွေ ကုန်သည်ကြီးများ အားလည်းကောင်း နယ်စပ် ထိုင်းလုံခြုံရေးအာဏာပိုင်တဦးအားလည်းကောင်းပြောဆို ခဲ့သည် ။
တဖက်တွင်လည်း အောက်တိုဘာ ၂၈ ရက်က ထိုင်း ရဲအဖွဲ့က ထိုင်းစစ်သည် ၉ ဦးအား ခေါ်ယူ၍လူသတ်မှု နှင့်အလောင်းရွှေ့ ပြောင်း မှုဖြင့် စွဲချက်တင်ခဲ့သည်။

Ethnic Journalists in Burma Still Unable to Report in Their Own Languages-kaowao

Ethnic Mon journalists in the southern areas of Burma still do not dare to establish a Mon media organization in Moulmein, the capital of Mon State, citing uncertainties about the current political situation

“We have to wait and see for a few months because the constitution mentions nothing about rights for ethnic languages,” said a senior Mon reporter from Mon State. “The lack of ethnic rights in the constitution is a big barrier, and we could get into trouble at any time if we set up our own media organization to report in our own language.”

“We have a dream of creating a [Mon] news agency [inside Burma]. However the situation is still too unstable to implement the plan,” said the source.

MMN Book Launch 7 December: Speaking of Migration: Mekong Vocabulary on Migration and Legally Binding: Labour Laws in the Greater Mekong Subregion

The MMN, in collaboration with Legal Support for Children & Women (LSCW), will be launching its sister publications, ‘Speaking of Migration: Mekong Vocabulary on Migration’ and ‘Legally Binding: a Summary of Labour Laws in the Greater Mekong Subregion’ at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh (Orchid Room No. 2, 313 Sisowath Quay) on the 7th of December, 2011, starting at 9 am (registration from 9:00 – 9:30 am; programme from 9:30 – 11:00 am).

Her Excellency Ms Chou Bun Eng, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior, Royal Cambodian Government will be in attendance as the Guest of Honour. All those interested are welcome to attend.
