WAR: Update Shan news

2.august 2011     The Burma Army’s forward base at Mongfan, near the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA)’s Hsop Lwe base on the Mekong, has reduced its strength to some 50 troops from about 200 two months ago, according to NDAA sources in Mongla, opposite China’s Daluo. (SHAN)

Around 300 Burma Army troops that arrived on 24 July at the No Man’s Land between the NDAA and Burmese frontline outposts near Mong Lwe, southwest of Mongyang left yesterday, thereby releasing the tensions that had flared up a week earlier. The Burma Army said there was no silver metal to be found there as suggested by earlier reports. (SHAN)
