Burmese government blames KNU for bomb on Rangoon-Mandalay train

New Delhi (Mizzima) – Burmese authorities have arrested one man as a suspect in the bombing of the Rangoon-Mandalay train near Naypyitaw last month and alleged that the Karen National Union (KNU) ordered the attack.

The state-run newspaper New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday that Kyaw Di aka Marino, the suspect, was arrested on May 29.

A bomb exploded on the No.3 Rangoon-Mandalay train on May 17, killing two people and injuring nine others.

The newspaper article alleged that Kyaw Di hid in farmhouses along an escape route before he was arrested on May 29. The newspaper alleged that KNU Captains Shah Lit Kwe, Saw Ka Htaw and Saw Htoo Sae, who were identified as explosive experts in KNU Battalion 5 of Brigade No. 2, assigned Kyaw Di to place the bomb on the train.

The story alleged the suspect was given 20,000 kyat (about US$ 28). The authorities claimed that Kyaw Di confessed that he brought a bomb with two batteries in a plastic bag covered by paper and was told not to attach the battery to the bomb until the train left Naypyitaw station, and then to jump off the train.

According to the article, Kyaw Di said that when the train left Naypyitaw, he activated the bomb, put it on luggage rack, and jumped off the train around milepost 248/21. He reportedly said he heard an explosion about two minutes later.

Responding to the story, KNU Joint General-Secretary Major Pado Saw Hla Ngwe strongly denied the allegations.

“ဆိုင်ကယ်တစီး က ကွန်ပြူတာ ကြပ်ဖါတခု သယ်လာတယ်။ ဂိတ်စောင့်တွေက တားတယ်။ ဘာတွေလဲ လို့မေးတော့ ကလေးသုံးဖို့ကွန်ပြူတာပါ- စစ်ဆေးမနေနဲ့ဗျာ လို့ပြန်ပြောတယ်။ နောက်ဆုံး ပြောမရ တော့  အစစ်ဆေးခံတယ်။ စစ်ဆေးနေတုန်း ဆိုင်ကယ်မောင်းသူက  ဒေါက်ထောက်ရပ်ထားပြီး လစ်ထွက်သွားတာ။  မဖမ်းမိလိုက်ဘူး”

 

ပစ္စတို သေနတ်များ

ဂျွန် ၆ ရက်က ဆိုင်ကယ်သမားတဦး ကွန်ပြူတာကြပ်ဖါထဲ၌  ပစ္စတို  လက်နက် ငယ် ၂၈ လက် တင်ဆောင် လာသည်ကို  ဌာနဆိုင်ရာများက တားဆီးစစ်ရေးရမိသော်လည်း ပိုင်ရှင်မှာမူထွက် ပြေးလွတ်မြောက် သွားကြောင်း အာဏာပိုင်များနှင့် နီးစပ်သည့်ကုန်သည်တဦးက ပြောပါသည်။
 

အဆိုပါလက်နက်ငယ်များဖမ်းဆီးရမိသည့်နောက်ပိုင်း ဌာနပေါင်းစုံချထားသည့် ရေပူဂိတ်၌အစစ်အဆေး ပိုထူပြောလာကြောင်း၊ ခရီးသွားများအတွက် နှောင့်နှေးကြန့်ကြာမှု  ကြုံတွေ့နေရကြောင်း အဆိုပါကုန်သည် ကပြောသည်။
“အဲဒီသေနတ်တွေက ဘယ်အဖွဲ့အစည်းဟာလဲ၊ ဘယ်သူ့ဟာလဲ မသိဘူး။ ထောက်လှမ်းရေးတွေ လိုက်နေ တုန်း။   အဲဒီကိစ္စကြောင့် အခု ဆိုင်ကယ် ကယ်ရီတွေကို ဂိတ်ပေးမဖြတ်တော့ဘူး။ ခရီးသွားတွေ၊ကုန်သည် တွေကိုလဲ အရမ်းစစ်တယ်”

သိန္နီရေပူဂိတ်သည်   လွန်ခဲ့သည့် ၁၀ နှစ်ခန့်က လားရှိုး အေတီ ဌာနပေါင်းစုံ စစ်ဆေးရေးဂိတ်မှ သိန္နီမြို့ ရေပူစမ်းကျေးရွာသို့ ပြောင်းရွေ့ချထားသည့်ဂိတ်ဖြစ်သည်။

WAR:Fighting between Kachin and Burmese troops for three hours

Fighting broke out for nearly three hours this morning at 7 a.m. local time between Kachin and Burmese troops in Bhamo District in Kachin State, northern Burma, Kachin officers confirmed.

The fighting was between the Burmese Army’s Momauk-based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No. 437 and the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) Battalion No. 15, under Brigade 3, at the KIA-controlled Sang Gang Village in Momauk Township in Bhamo District, according to KIA officials at the Laiza headquarters, in eastern Kachin State.

The fighting was located close to the Taping River on the road heading to the Taping No. 1 and Taping No. 2 hydropower plants, from Myitkyina-Bhamo Highway. The two hydropower plants were constructed by the China Datang Corporation (CDT).

KIO inaugurates Uru Hka River Bridge in Hpakant_Jade mining area

The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) inaugurated the suspension bridge on June 7th built to provide smooth transportation to the jade mining area for civilians in Hpakant Jade Mining Township, in Burma’s northern Kachin State.

The suspension bridge known as Ginsi Mahkrai, on the Uru Hka River, was constructed by the KIO and it connects the jade mining fields in the controlled area of the Ginsi-based Kachin Independence Army’s Battalion 6, the armed wing of the KIO, and the Burmese government-controlled Lawng Hkang (Lonkhin) village-tract.

KIA Battalion 6 officials and church leaders stood for inaugural prayer service of Ginsi Mahkrai (Ginsi bridge).

The newly-built suspension bridge is welcomed and appreciated by local people, jade businessmen, jade miners and merchants because they can travel to the jade mines smoothly without difficulties, travelers said.

Residents used boats and bamboo rafts to make the difficult crossing of the Uru Hka River before the Ginsi Suspension Bridge was completed, said the local people.

“All people feel happy on this bridge and it helps residents of the Ginsi area. Jade dealers and jade miners now have an easy way to get around, especially during rainy season,” a resident of Hpakant said.

After an attempt to transport small arms hidden in a box on June 6, 2011, security has tightened significantly in Northern Shan State (Nam Oon Gate) which is ten miles from Hsenwi town. Twenty-eight pistols were found hidden in a box.Security officers discovered the weapons in a box held by a motorcycle carrier on his way to Lashio, Northern Shan State, south of Muse. Police demanded to check the box that the smuggler claimed held a computer.

The unknown motorcyclist fled where security officers were checking the box. The police did not realize he fled and still do not know who he is.

The police kept the motorcycle and weapons but still do not know who the smuggler is. Since the event, it has become increasingly difficult to pass through Northern Shan State (Nam Oon Gate).
