In November 2009, Zaw Min Tun and his wife, Sandar, took a seriously ill patient to Twante Township Hospital where they allegedly shouted angrily at a doctor and others in an argument.

Dr. Sint Sint Thi said Zaw Min Tun obstructed her in her duties and  Judge Aye Ko Ko sentenced him to one year in prison. His wife, a member of the local campaign committee, was sentenced to one and one-half years in prison for allegedly swearing at employees.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners-Burma said on May 3 that there were 2,061 political prisoners in Burma.
