NLD urges junta to seek national reconciliation on National Day

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – The opposition National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi, today repeated its call for the Burmese military junta to strive for national reconciliation as soon as possible, as it celebrated Burma’s National Day at NLD headquarters in Rangoon.

The call came as pro-democracy leader Suu Kyi attended a ceremony to mark the 90th anniversary of National Day at NLD headquarters in Rangoon for the first time in seven years. ယေန႔ က်ေရာက္ေသာ ကမၻာ့ HIV/AIDS တိုက္ဖ်က္ေရးေန႔တြင္ ျမန္မာႏုိင္ငံသားႏွင့္ ထိုင္းေက်ာင္းသားအခ်ဳိ႕ အပါအ၀င္ လူဦးေရ ၃၀၀ေက်ာ္ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ခ်ီတက္ပြဲ အစီအစဥ္ႏွင့္ အခမ္းအနားတစ္ခုကို ထိုင္း-ျမန္မာနယ္စပ္ မဲေဆာက္ၿမိဳ႕၌ မနက္ ၉နာရီတြင္ ျပဳလုပ္က်င္းပခဲ့သည္။
မဲေဆာက္ၿမိဳ႕၊ ေဆး႐ံုႀကီးမွတဆင့္ မယ္ေတာ္ေဆးခန္းသို႔ ဦးတည္သည့္ အဆိုပါ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ခ်ီတက္ပြဲတြင္ မဲေဆာက္အ ေျခစိုက္ ေရာင္ျခည္ဦး ေရႊ႕ေျပာင္းအလုပ္သမားအဖြဲ႕၊ ေရႊ႕ေျပာင္း ျမန္မာစာသင္ေက်ာင္း ၁၅ေက်ာင္းမွ ေက်ာင္းသားေက်ာင္း သူမ်ား၊ ထိုင္းစာသင္ေက်ာင္းတေက်ာင္းမွ ေက်ာင္းသူေက်ာင္းသားတစ္ဖြဲ႕ႏွင့္ လူမႈေရးအဖြဲ႕အစည္းမ်ား ပါ၀င္ခဲ့ၾကသည္။
ကမၻာ့ခုခံအားက်ဆင္းမႈ တိုက္ဖ်က္ေရးေန႔ (HIV/AIDS Day) အခမ္းအနားျဖစ္ေျမာက္ေရး ဦးေဆာင္သူတဦးျဖစ္သည့္ မယ္ ေတာ္ေဆးခန္းမွ ဆရာေစာေနဦးက အခမ္းအနား ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္ကို ယခုလို ေျပာသည္။
“က်ေနာ္တို႔ က်င္းပရတဲ့ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္က တကမၻာလံုးမွာ ရွိတဲ့လူသားေတြ HIV/AIDS ေရာဂါမရေအာင္၊ ေရာဂါေတြကို ဘယ္ လိုမ်ဳိးပံုစံနဲ႔ ကာကြယ္ရမလဲဆိုတာကို နည္းလမ္းေတြ သူတို႔ သိလာေအာင္၊ လူသားခ်င္း စာနာတဲ့အေနနဲ႔ ဒီေရာဂါျဖစ္တဲ့သူ ေတြကို ခြဲျခား ၿပီး မဆက္ဆံၾကဖို႔နဲ႔ ေဖးမကူညီေပးဖို႔။ ေနာက္ ဒါကို လူတဦးခ်င္းအျပင္ တကမၻာလံုးက လူေတြသိေအာင္ လုပ္ ရတာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။”ဟု ေကအိုင္စီကို ေျပာသည္။

Burmese government maintains silence on KPF surrender

The KPF handed over their arms to Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No. 283 to Colonel Thein Zaw without holding a ceremony of surrender, reported a source close to the Burmese army.
This source further explained that “the reason they secretly handed over their weapons was so that the Karen National Union (KNU) would not become aware of the KPF’s actions.” Lt. Col. Saw Lay War was captured for a few days last year by the KNU while the KPF was traveling to Nay Pyi Daw, Burma’s capitol to become part of the Border Guard Force (BGF). More than 60 KPF members handed over more than 40 weapons on November 27th before the deadline set by the government to become part of the BGF. The Burmese army authorities kept it from KPF. Malaysia’s RELA Raids Refugee Neighborhood, Arrests Dozens

01 December 2010: Over 100 ‘illegal’ migrants, including about 30 Chins were arrested in one of the biggest raids yet on a refugee neighborhood by Malaysia’s RELA since the beginning of the year.
At around 1:00 a.m. last night, an army of RELA personnel rounded up the Jalan Imbi neighborhood of Kuala Lumpur, breaking locked doors and forced-entering people’s houses.
“We were having a Sweet December gathering when we heard that RELA was rounding up the entire neighborhood,” said a 17 year-old UNHCR-recognized Chin refugee girl who said she was initially taken away before being released about an hour later.
All but one in her house was later released after the RELA found them to have possessed UNHCR cards.
“We immediately turned off the lights and stayed quietly in the rooms. But they broke the backdoor open and forced their way inside the house anyway,” she explained. She said that there were over 20 people gathering in the house for a mid-night Sweet December celebration when the RELA stormed in.
