Reporter sues Htet Htet Moe Oo over slap

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – A reporter from the 7 Day News journal has lodged an assault complaint against prominent actress Htet Htet Moe Oo, who allegedly slapped the writer in the face, a source at the journal said today.

Aye Thu San, a reporter for the weekly journal based in Rangoon, filed the suit at the Yankin Township Court in the city’s central north, citing the attack and accusing the actress of damaging her dignity. The court scheduled a hearing of witnesses from both sides of the dispute on May 24, the journal source said.

The alleged assault came as Aye Thu San was interviewing the actress at the Sedona Hotel in Rangoon on Wednesday, and was apparently a reaction to a question about Htet Htet Moe Oo’s high-profile private life.

Aye Thu San first laid her complaint against the actress at Yankin police station. Officers there directed her to undergo a medical examination at Sanpya hospital in Thingangyun Township and submit a complaint directly with the court.

A Yankin court judge admitted the plea as criminal case No. 182/10 and fixed May 24 for the preliminary hearing of testimony from Ma Thet of Perfect Magazine, Ma Win Mar of Fashion Magazine and Nay Phone La of Hello Journal.

Burma Motion Picture Academy Award-winning actress Htet Htet Moe Oo declined an interview with Mizzima.
