Demonstration in London on 21st Anniversary of Military Coup d’etat in Burma
Pro-democracy activists in London, led by the exile/UK branch of Burma’s main pro-democracy party National League for Democracy, and BDC, on 18.09.2009 (21st Anniversary of military coup in Burma) made demonstrations and protests in front of Burmese military regime embassy in London.

At least 104 political prisoners released

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) (AAPP) can confirm that so far 104 political prisoners have been released from 22 different prisons in Burma.
The 104 released include 37 members of the National League for Democracy, including 3 MPs; 18 women; 11 former political prisoners; 4 monks; 4 journalists; 9 members of the Human Rights Defenders and Promoters Network; 6 members of the 88 Generation Students; and 1 lawyer.
On the evening of September 17, 2009 in Rangoon, state-run MRTV carried a news bulletin announcing that 7,114 prisoners were to be released “on humanitarian grounds.”
The list of political prisoners released will be continually updated at our web site http://www.aappb.org as AAPP receives more information. In alphabetical order:

Myo Yan Naung Thein is released!!
Myo Yan Naung Thein is one of the student leaders with his firm determination in restoration of democracy in Burma. He is the prominent student leader and due to his leading role in 1996 December Student Demonstrations, he was sentenced to prison for 7 years by military government in 1997. He is the leading members of the 88-generation student and he has been working for democratisation of Burma for very long time.
Speaking English, French and Spanish very fluently, and he always plays vital role in struggle for freedom in Burma. He was actively participated in 2007 Saffron revolution. Because of his political activities: military government monitor him very closely all the time. On 14th December2007, he was arrested second time and charged him under emergency political act 5(J) and he is now in Insein prison. During interrogations, he was severely tortured and he sacrificed his life for people of Burma.He is blood brother of Myo Thein (Burma Democratic Concern)

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) (AAPP) can confirm that so far 87 political prisoners have been released from 16 different prisons in Burma.
The 87 released include 36 members of the National League for Democracy, including 3 MPs; 15 women; 11 former political prisoners; 4 monks; 4 journalists; 6 members of the 88 Generation Students; and 1 lawyer.
