Myitkyina Joint Statement 2013 November 05

November 6, 2013

After the discussions in Myitkyina, no press conference was held. The ethnic representatives left quietly and the government representatives did not stay at length. However, a joint statement was released containing six points, the fourth of which focused on the nationwide ceasefire, laying down framework principles for political dialogue and holding political dialogues.

The joint statement said that representatives from both sides agreed to meet again in Hpa-an, Kayin State, in December. They felt satisfied with their cooperation during the Myitkyina dialogue. They also agreed to hold the political dialogues as soon as possible.
