Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – A farmers’ group staged a short protest in front of the Department of Human Settlement and Housing Development on Bogyoke Road in Botahtaung Township, Rangoon, on Thursday, urging authorities to revoke the Land Nationalization Act.About 40 farmers from Thanlyin, Kawhmu, Twante, Dagon Myothit (South) and Dagon Seikkan townships, holding placards that read “We need land, not money,” urged authorities to revoke the Land Nationalization Act and return confiscated land to the original owners.

Six police vehicles carrying up to 100 policemen arrived at the scene and told the farmers to disperse.
