| 20 October 2011 Gen Hso Ten, former leader of the”, who was released on amnesty order by President Thein Sein, on 13 October, has been under round-the-clock intelligence surveillance since his return to his Lashio home on 15 October. Agents are conspicuous at the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) office opposite his home on the Railway Station Road near the Independence monument. His home phone is also being tapped, according to sources close to his family. It is not clear whether the 75 year old Hso Ten has agreed to become a go-between between the SSA North and Naypyitaw.
